It just looks messy & kinda stringy to me. :( She is a very beautiful woman, but I think this new style is a downgrade.

I think so too.  From the front, it looks like it's tucked under.  That shot from the back, the shorter pieces against her coat are probably just shorter layers.

Judging by an Instagram taken after the faux bob ones, her hair is still long.
