Hey,
I just got back from getting a trim and highlights put into my hair. My hairdresser kept on saying how long my hair was, (past BSL, but not waist) and to me it doesn't seem long. I guess it just seems to be a matter of opinion. She has "long" hair too, so it wasn't coming from a person with short hair!!!

Does that make any sense??

It's somthing I don't get either. In magazines I continually read things like "Jenny wants a new style for her lovely long hair." It's rarely past shoulder length! They wouldn't know long hair if it jumped up and bit their heads off. By the way, your hair does surely fit the criteria of long hair .

Yes, yes, Laine, you've got long hair by my definition! I do know what you mean about it not seeming long though. When I had past BSL hair a few years ago I kept saying, well it will REALLY be long in just another inch or two. I said this for so long that I didn't even realize it was VERY long by virtually everyone's standards! Have someone take some pictures of you, candid, when you're in a crowd and aren't looking. Then get them developed and you'll see that you truly do have "long, lovely hair," (unlike the aforementioned shoulder-length gal)

I'm going to the states in about 2 weeks to see my husband. I haven't seen him since May 22nd. He has been at a school for the military, and I stayed here in Germany working and going to college. I will have him take a few pics of my hair, and when he does i'll post one in here.

Hi Laine,
Yes, what you say makes sense. There can be a difference between one's perspective of one's own hair length vs. the length that others have. Even when the lengths are the same. It's a matter of how you feel about your own hair length in relation to what you want, and how long other people's hair looks on them. Gee, that explains it well, huh?

Lyris is right. Sometimes you just can't "see" how long your own hair is on you, until you see yourself in photographs.

Enfys, I hear you. It's difficult for me (with knee-length hair) to think of shoulder-length as long. But from the perspective of someone with a pixie, shoulder-length could well be seen as being "long."
