No, hairspray will not make your hair fall out.
What you are experiencing is when you spray any adhesive (hairspray) on the hair, it keeps it in place, right? Well, picture this.....everyday a normal healthy head of hair will lose 60 to 100 hairs a day and you never miss them gone. When you are accustomed to not wearing an adhesive on your hair, these 60-100 hairs fall freely. When using a spray on the hair it keeps these 60-100 hairs in place so that they do not fall freely. So when you shampoo or brush your hair after it has been sprayed they catch up and it "appears" that you are losing gobs of hair.
Another cynario could be, you mentioned you were letting your hair grow. If it is longer now, two hairs can appear to be a handfull, when you are used to the shorter hair and now it is long.
Other causes of hairloss can be antibiotics, birth control pills, recent surgery, thyroid problems or even eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia.
I hope this helps "shed" some light on the subject.

By the way hairspray can make your hair fall out. Everytime I have used hairspray my hair starts falling out so I quit using it. It also makes my scalp itch so I may be allergic to hairspray. I don't know. All I know is that it does cause my hair to fall out a lot more than usual.

HEY BUDDY! I'm so delighted to find someone who has EXACTLY the same problem as me.....I just wanted to know..how many years have you been doing this?and...did spray directly at the scalp?(thats what i always did) Thanx Man..I appreciate it!
Old post but thought someone else might have the same questions.
Oh the insanity. No, you won't go bald because you used a straightener, curling iron, hairspray or anything like that. The hair that you see is DEAD. The only living part of the hair is inside the scalp. You can't damage it with a curling iron or straightening iron. And don't worry about using hairspray. It isn't going to cause your hair to fall out.
