Calic

I am a 20 year old male with a calic on the top of my head about the size of a quarter. I have had it my entire life, lately though it seems to be getting slightly larger. My problem is that to other people it appears to be a bald spot. I have consulted a dermatologist and he informed me that I am not losing my hair, however the calic may be expanding due to my scalp still growing. My questions: Are there any other men out there with this problem? And what can I do to to lessen the apperance of a bald spot in terms of hairstyles (is shorter or longer better?). If this sounds like a stupid question I apologize in advance. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
