I am a 31 year old male. I had my testosterone levels checked about 3 years ago, and they were in the "low normal" range, I believe just under 300.
My problem is that I have some hair on the sides of my face and under my chin, but cannot grow a full beard or a goatee. My legs have hair on them up until about 1/2-way down my calves. I have very little chest/stomach hair, and a moderate amount under my arms. I have not lost this hair, it just never grew in.
I am very embarrassed by this problem, and it has really taken a toll on me. I would like to do something about it, and wonder if you have any suggestions for me.
I have been to 2 different doctors and have spent countless hours researching options I have, and they are all expensive and time-consuming, and some of them have dangerous side-effects. Further, neither of the doctors I have seen, nor most of the doctors I have corresponded with on the internet, have taken me seriously enough to try to help.
I know of a doctor who uses injects tiny amounts of testosterone just below the skin in order to grow body hair. I have been in touch with him, but unfortunately, it would be rather costly to fly there and have a consultation, let alone any subsequent visits or treatment costs. If there is someone you can recommend that performs these procedures or would be willing to help me in the Southwest area, I would be very grateful.
I have also read that cortisone cremes can also assist in the regrowth of body hair. Is there something over the counter I can use?
Any suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated!
sounds like a problem with the adrenal glands, yours are probabaly underactive. have you gone to an endocrinologist? there are lots of other symtoms too, you could run a search on the internet for underactive adrenal glands, I can`t remember the exact name for the condition, somethingl like hypoadrenocortico-something, but you should be able to find it and see if the other symtoms fit you. You can take the hormones that you are missing prescribed by a doctor. hope this helps :)

I don't know what your ethnicity is, but I've known some Asian and Native American men who naturally have very fine and sparse body hair and a lack of facial hair. In my opinion, it's more attractive than really furry body hair and bristly whiskers. It may be that you have inherited this and it is just what is natural and normal for you. I'm no expert -- just a thought.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
