I am 40 yrs old and have had hair loss in crown area of my head for the past 15 years. I`ve tried everything from dermatologists, to creams, to light treatment, to message treatment. And I`m almost thinkg about a hair replacement. Do you have any other ideas before I result to this surgical replacement system. Please help!

Might want to give FNS a try when it comes out - osmotics.com

I personally use Alterna`s Follicle Treatment and Shampoo/Conditioners....Lipozyt Plus from lipoxidil.com, a Japanese apple pro product that isn`t readily available yet...and a thinning hair shampoo from Lamas.

So how long have you been using the follicle treatment, and what does it do? I have very thin hair that is getting worse as well. I am also 40. What is the thinning hair shampoo like, does it work well?

I`ve been using the follicle treatment for around 4 months now. Prior to that I used Tricomin for over a month and sampled another product(curetage) for a couple weeks after that. What got me interested the Alterna products was the company- high quality, the ingredients- a # of things other products use plus some more, and the fact that it is in a mousse form- a lot easier to apply for someone with quite a bit of hair yet. If one is balding it would be really easy to apply. I basically apply it whever my hair is thinning or receded...and apply the other products I mentioned only on the receding areas before bedtime.

Here is their website- the Life line is what I use, both the Life and Restore products:
http://www.4alterna.com/prod_life.asp
It tells you basically what it does. It doesn`t make outrageous claims..and as I like to tell people what might work for one person may not work for another.

Here are the ingredients for the Follicle Treatment:

(Aqua)Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurat, Sodium
Lauromaphoacetate,cocomidopropyl betaine, acrylates
copolymer,treonine,phosphrous, azelaic acid, niacin, n-carboxyethyl
butyrlc acid, orinthine decarboxylase, calphostin c, Serenoa serrulata
fruit extract, paullinia cupana seed extract, swertia japonica
extract, ginko biloba, camelia sinensis leaf extract, royal jelly,
chinchona succirubra bark extract, coptis japonica extract, gastrodia
elata extract, nasturtium officinale extract, robinnia pseudacacia
flower extract, cymbopogon schoenanthus extract, polygonum multiflorum
root extract, foeniculum vulgare (funnel)fruit extract, retinyl
palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, scorbic acid, magnisium asorbyl
phosphate, calcium pantothenate, magnesium salicylate, zinc gluconate,
rice amino acids, hydrolyzed wheat protein, pantheynl Ethyl Ether,
panthenyl hydroxypropyl, steardimonium chloride, biotin,
polyquaternium-28, hydroxypropyl guar hydroxypropltrimium chloride,
hydrolyzed mucopolysacchrides, saccharomyces(lysate, copper, zinc)
Ferment, superoxide dismutase, lactoferrin, retinyl palmitate
polypeptide phosolipids, corn oligosaccharides, copper oxidase, acetyl
methionine, acetyl serine, amino acyl transferase,
cinnamidopropyltrimonium chloride, peg-150, distearatem, propylene
glycol, peg 45-m, aminomethyl propanol, titanium dioxide, mica,
silicia, disodium EDTA, citric acid, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben,
propylparaben, fragrance.

I LOVE the Lamas shampoo...just the smell and the refreshed feeling on my scalp afterwards. I use that every other day- once a day. The Alterna "thinning hair" shampoos/conditioners are great as well...the Life ones I use if going out etc....the Restore ones all the other times I`m not using the Lamas or the Alterna Life ones.

Here`s some info on that apple pro product I mentioned: http://www.kyowa.co.jp/netext/er991101.htm

If you can`t get your hands on that you can always try a grape seed extract product....or FNS from osmotics.com if it ever comes out.
