My hair is naturaly extremely fine. I absolutely hate it. It''s awful. Each strand is so thin.

And my aunt (i think she has that alopecia) because her hair is so unbelieveably fine and thin that you can see through to her scalp everywhere. She barely has any hair at all.

My mom''s hair has also thinned and gotten much finer as she got older (but NOT nearly as bad as my aunts). I wonder if both of them have that alopecia which means i''ll have it too? I know my aunt definiftely has something seriously wrong with her hair.

But is it true that if i take gelatin, it will make my hair healthier? What vitamin or supplements can i take orally to ensure my hair is getting all the proper nutrients? I don''t really believe that taking any kind of supplement will have any effect on hair. But whatever, i''m desperate.

Or are there any safe supplements that i can take to PREVENT hair thinning? I know my aunt has alopecia.... and my mom's hair has also thinned and gotten MUCH finer. I don't know if it's because of normal aging or a medical condition with her. I'm so worried i'm going to end up like them!

My recommendation is eat iron. Supplements have helped me a lot, they really can work. I“ve been eating multi vitamins and iron until now, and recently I bought b-vitamins also. Hair loss may be caused by lack of sink also. I have iron and sink in my multi vitamins, I think they are most important for me.

At "long hair support" -forum (here) they recommend and brag many kind of hair vitamins and other hair products, check those! There are many sites about this subject in internet, try google ! This is one page of this: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip214.htm

They/you may not have alopecia, but PCOS. We had a big discussion here about that a long time ago.

It is hereditary. My mom has it, although not diagnosed, I have it, so does my daughter. We all have very thin hair. Messed up periods. My mom is diabetic. I probably will be later in life.

I take spironolactone. My daughter takes a birth control pill called Yasmin, it has spironolactone in it. It helps a little. We also take vitamins.

There are vitamins that a specially geared towards facilitating hair growth. None of them are wonder drugs by any means, but they may work to some extent. Try looking at vitamineshoppe.com for hair formulas that are composed of a variety of vitamins, such a biotin and silica. The prices there are very reasonable and the quality of the vitamins are very good. Good luck!!

No one thing works for us all...but this is what worked for me...

Silica (GNC) one 2 x daily
HF37 as directed (can find it online)
Calcium (Caltrate over counter) one 2 x daily
MSM (at Wal-Mart, etc.) 1000 mg. 2 x daily

Not only is my hair thick, full of body, healthy shine, grows like weeds..but nails are long, hard & healthy!

Good luck!

There's a difference between fine and thin hair. Fine is the size of the individual hairs, and theres nothing you can do to change this, it's purely genetic.

Thin hair is when, regardless of the size of the individual hairs, there's not very much of it. Vitamins and supplements aren't going to help you much unless you have a deficiency. If you are eating properly (make sure you are getting plenty of protein, hair is made of protein), and not stressing yourself out, and not ill, the next step is to see a specialist.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
