can using gel cause hair lose?

i'm only 14, but I left gel in my hair over night once and when i washed my hair in the morning, several strands fell out (this was when i had short hair, and short hair usually doesn't fall out easily). This happened only when i left gell in my hair. can this be dangerous?

That's probably just because the gel held the loose hairs in, so the ones that naturally would've fallen out in the course of the day don't come out until you wash out the gel and they come unstuck. Probably nothing to worry about at all.
