Hi,
I'm 16 and I've been an avid user of gel since I was about 12/13 years old. I've never had a problem with my hair during my younger years until just recently. I've noticed that my hair has been coming out more than usually and my hair is really dry and extremely... well... let's just say... bad.
I've straightened my hair for the second time using a gold-plated flat iron more than a few weeks ago and after that, my hair's been really stubborn.
I have extremely THICK hair that is curly/wavy (Grecian/Mediterranean hair), so it is unlikely that my hair would fall out or thin like that.
I really think it's due to the constant use of gel and stress from school, but I'm not too sure.
YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! THANK YOU!

I have to disagree about your hair thinning because of the flat ironing. It is possible that your hair loss is just normal, periodic shedding or as you mentioned, stress. Or it could be hormonal. To cover all bases I would recommend going to your doctor for a physical.
To ensure that the flat iron is not damaging your hair or making it break off, go to a salon for a flat iron lesson. That should eliminate any problems in that area.
My advice on flat ironing curly hair is to apply a small amount of a straightening product to your hair and then dry your hair completely. Use brushes when you dry your hair to help it get smoother before you try to flat iron it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

I've only straightened out my hair TWICE in my whole life - so far.

I don't have the type of hair African Americans do, and I am aware of the fact that their hairs are more susceptible to falling out; but my hair just isn't like that.

If it is 'shedding,' I hope they'll grow back soon, and I really thought it was the gel that was causing all the trouble, as I use the extreme hold gels and I tie my hair back in a ponytailed braid all the time.

Once again, thanks.

Hair loss

when the amount of hair lost grows higher than the normal hair fall that takes place due to the change in environment, increasing age or growth of new hairs, it is referred to as hair loss problem that needs special care. Improper or poor diet, exposure to a lot of chemicals or cosmetics, hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety and mental tension are some causes of hair loss.

Remedies
Mage the scalp gently with coconut or almond oil daily for 10 to 15 minutes.
Boil neem leaves in water. Cool, strain and rinse hair with it.
Increase green leafy vegetables, salads, milk, fruits and sprouts in the diet. Take more proteins, milk, buttermilk, yeast, wheat germ, soya beans, whole grains and nuts

I agree that using a flat iron twice in your life will not make your hair fall out. I suspect that the stress is causing it. Gel should not do it either.

Also, you tend to get some hair loss during the teen years. Its not usually noticable as thinning hair, you just see a LOT more hair in your brush, in the tub etc. Unless your hair starts to look really thin, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does start to look really thin (like you get bald patches) then go to your doctor.

Be aware also that taking too much vitamin A can cause hair loss.

Try using mayonnaise to condition your hair to help with the dryness (the gel may be drying it out a little). You can put fatty mayonnaise (not low fat or miracle whip) on your hair and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo and condition as usual.

3.Curd is a moisturieser. Apply ur Scalp leave 30min before wash ur hair.

For Dandruff:-

1.Squeeze lemon and take lemon juice. Apply ur Scalp leave 30min before wash ur
hair.

2.Take White Vinegar 50ml. Apply ur Scalp leave 30min before wash ur hair.

For Lice:-
1.Spread Tulsi leaves on ur pillow before go to bed.keep head on Tulsi

For YoungGreyHair:-

1. Add Castor oil with coconut oil(100+100ml).apply with gentle mage.

2. Eat iron content food or syrup.

To do this:-
1.Apply Natural Henna by paste format.leave 30min before wash ur hair.

2.Fold ur hair end with hair band. Dont use pins and clips for folding.

3.Eat atleast one egg or protein content food daily.

Dont do this:-

1.Dont dry ur hair by hair dryer oftenly.

2.Dont Brush ur hair with moisture.

3.Dont cut ur hair oftenly or improperly.

Because Straight cut makes Density, V cut makes long, Oval makes normal level

General Advice:-

Maintain long hair. Because the body will take protein from hair at the time of
Sick or illness. because the hair contains protein in the form of karotine.this
is the reason for mothers hair falling after birth of child. So plz maintain atleast
Hair length between Shoulder length to Waist length(50-60cm
