Ever noticed that when your hair gets about waist length, it is really hard to put up?

I am looking for some cool long hair styles for when I want to put my hair up. I am also really bad at doing hair, and I cant figure out how to do styles that I see in pictures.
Does anyone know step-by-step instructions for long hair styles, or a site that has them?

Hi, Carpediam

I don't have trouble putting my hair up, but it's not very thick.

I dont really use any step-by-step instructions, I just play, then when I find something that looks good I remember how I did.

The hardest part of styles is stability, but if I anchor my hair with a ponytail and use a lot of kirby grips then I'm ok

I hope this is useful to you

Depends on what a bobby pin is

Kirbies are like a U-shaped bit if thin metal which is about 2 inches long. One sides straight and the other is wiggly. What are bobby pins like? That may be the American word for kirby grips.

They are the same! hehe I learned something new today. Kirby grips or bobby pins, neither name really makes sense for it! hehe

I have really thick hair. Whenever I try to do anything with it, it either falls, or tangles.

I will try using boby pins, thats a good Idea.
Thanks!

Sometimes you have to change your habits in hair styling.

I used to like to cover my ears when wearing a ponytail, but that makes it hard to get smooth and tight, so I let them out.

I also used to wear my center part when I pulled my hair back, but it's hard to get a smooth high ponytail that way, so I brushed it straight back.

Also, always use a hair friendly elastic to ponytail before trying to make any kind of ponytail-based style, it's just easier.

Bobby pins tend not to work well on my thick hair, u-shaped long hairpins are wonderful, don't be afraid to use them, even in conjunction with hairsticks or other style holders, if you need more hold

I so agree that one needs to rethink styles as the hair gets longer. Hair pins are a great tool.

I stopped using elastic when I make the bun, since it was causing a lot of breakage, especially in winter. Even with "nice" elastic. Instead, I put some oil in my hairends, to make it a bit sticky, and use pins only. It has greatly improved the way my hair looks down. It keeps the bun really rock hard and conditions the ends at the same time.

The problem is party hair. I know I need to play around with it more, to discover the possibilities, but it just doesn´t amuse me much... I just get frustrated.
The more you complain, the longer God lets you live.
