QuoteReplyTopic: Hair's the key to the White House! Posted: November 11 2000 at 8:34pm
The fiasco surrounding the Presidential Election is down to one thing no one has discussed; neither of them paid enough attention to their follicles!
Let me take you through a light hearted stroll through recent history...
Right. First you have to discount George BUSH and Jimmy CARTER. Their tonsorial ordinariness relfected their terms in office. No, the popular, re-elected ones have one thing in common.
Take Bill CLINTON. He famously spent $100 on a haircut in the Presidential airplane, and presided over the most succesful economy ever, some say he's the best leader we've ever had. (Remeber Ross Perot, the billionaire candidate with the $3 haircut? No, thought not.) Now before Clinton we had Ronald REAGAN. OK, so his hair was unfeasibly lacking in gray but at least he made an effort. For a man his age his hair was exceptional, as was the booming economy during his 8 years in office.
Contrast that with his Republican predecessor, Gerald FORD. This bungling guy kept banging his head, could not cope with the recession, and was bald. Before him, Richard NIXON. Balding, and.. well, enough said. Which takes us back to John F. KENNEDY. His hair was perfect, the most popular president to date, and would surely have been re-elected, had he lived.
So what for the future? Well, we're back to mediocrity, I'm afraid. If history is any judge, then the next president will do nothing of note and will last only 4 years. Who will it be? On the evidence, Al GORE, by a hair's breadth.

If I'm not mistaken, it was $200, and I don't know of a single person who says he was one of the best. As you recall, he was impeached!! His only redeeming feature is that he has well-coiffed hair (though much too feminine for my personal tastes). And remember, he "didn't" inhale. {grin}

Hmmm...ever heard of the Cuban missile crisis?!

Actually, it's technically George Bush at this point. However, absentee ballots have until the 17th to be received. The Algore supporters are claiming ineptness at filling out their ballots in Florida and want a revote. Interesting, not only did the Democratic and Republican leaders approve the ballot style but voters in Chicago have used the very same one and didn't complain at all!
Ahhh, politics....!

You think you have problems. lol One asked a question and another one doesn't want to answer so he holds his little clip board thing. We Canadians wonder if we are watching a bunch of five years old. For all I know that conversative look did cost over $100.00 you know.

Maybe I'm a little dense (LOL) but didn't Al Gore get most votes overall? Apart from having the better hair, it will be interesting to see how that is squared with democracy if he is pipped at the Florida post....

Yeah but Florida has way more senior citizens than Chicago.
Not to mention.. the point of the argument was that the presidents are more POPULAR by their hair. Sure, Bush is "technical" president, due to his technical Electoral College vote. Gore, with the slightly better hair, had slightly more people vote for him.
