QuoteReplyTopic: Long Hair and Split Ends Posted: January 16 2004 at 11:18pm
I have long, curly hair, but it is damaged. I have split ends on the outer layer, too spread out and at different lengths to be fixed with a trim. Anyone else suffering from this? Any suggestions? Write back. Thanks!

Hi, I recently had some damage done to my hair too (from a bad trip to the salon & highlights). Any way, I use the "search and destroy" method of split end reduction. You just spend some time looking through your hair, and when you find a damaged end, you trim it off. It does take some time, but its so worth it. I have really reduced my split end damage this way. Also you want to make sure to use the right shampoo, conditioner and styling products to help prevent more split ends.

Ditto these guys, and to stop it from happening again use lots of conditioner eveytime you wash your hair, read some of the posts about oils you can use and avoid anything damaging like blow driers if you can.
N.B. Welcome to the boards. I like the James Dean quote.
They're all correct, athenazbuddha. I do this to my own hair. Be sure to use a pair of very sharp scissors; dull scissors can do more harm than good. And welcome to the board!
