I dont remeber if I ever started this thread before:

I have hair nightmares.

Usualy in my dreams my hair is waistlenght and no longer or shorter (no matter how long my hair really is)...I wonder if subconciously that is the lenght that is "me"...or that I see in my mental picture. I never realize how long or short my actualy hair is until I see a picture.

Anyways, I will have nightmares where my hair is either cut off by someone or it catches on fire and "poof!" its gone, or some mechanical thing cuts it off by mistake, or my hair gets caught in something that wont let it go and so i have to cut it. Or, most commonly, I dream that bangs somehow get cut in my hair. Im not a fan of bangs at all and although it was over 13 years ago when I grew them out I remember it as being very akward.

So does anyone else have "my hair just got cut off dreams" too? Any interpritations?

i wonder if this is my way of letting myself know i really do like my hair long best. Sometimes i start wondering what Id look like with really short hair. I think I would look cute, but over all I know id miss my hair so entirely much.

Yeah, I've had dreams where my hair gets cut into the short, almost afro-like style I had as a small child (and while it was adorable then, on my adult self it just looks silly). I've also had dreams where my hair magically turns platinum blonde, fine, and pin-straight, pretty much the antithesis of my thick, wavy brown hair, and I've also had dreams where I decide that a drastic change of some type is a great idea, like it doesn't occur to me that hair takes time to grow out. In any of these types of dreams, I just don't feel like myself at all, I keep thinking "what have I done?" or something to that effect. I tend to have dreams about hair after days when I've been really introspective; I guess that it's a physical manifestation of my emotional insecurities. My hair isn't unusually long, but it's enough to hide behind if need be; similarly, on a daily basis I hide behind a fairly cheerful persona, but occasionally, all the dark thoughts just come up to the surface, like "So when are they going to find me out for the mess I am?" and such.
Monica: Isn't there any way that you could look at this as flattering? I mean, she's doing this to be more like you.
Rachel: Well, then, couldn't she have just copied my haircut?

Hi ErinLynn, here are a couple interpretations I pulled off my favorite dream site. Your own ideas make sense as well, and often we can interpret our own dreams best. Since your hair is a big part of your identity, I think that the dream is probably not about your hair but a symbolism of something else in your life.

To dream that someone is giving you a haircut, suggests that you are experiencing a decreased sense of power. You may feel that you were criticized unfairly.

To see hair in your dream, signifies sexual virility, seduction, sensuality, vanity, and health. It is indicative of your attitudes. If your hair is knotted or tangled, then it is symbolic of uncertainty and confusion in your life. You may be unable to think straight.
