I have, had dark brown, thick, curly hair. I have used clairol option that was discontinued and then Great Day that also has been discontinued. Both of these products worked pretty well. I did not care about roots because with thick, curly hair you could not see them. I like these products because I can control the color and let some gray show, salt and pepper. Since great day has been discontinued, are there any similiar products. Clairol Option was particulary good since you didn`t need gloves. I tried Grecian formular in past, but did not like not shampooing hair. Any suggestions? Do color enhancing shampoos work? Which ones?

Hi, yes colour enhancing shampoos work - a friend of mine used one from AVEDA and the result was very nice. She, too, had dark brown hair, although not grey, and she used one of their shampoos for dark brown/black hair - again, the result was very nice but I`m not sure if these shampoos would cover grey or not. Someone at the salon where you purchase the product should be able to tell you that.

The only haircolour product designed to cover grey that I have used is Casting ColourSpa for men from L`Oreal. You would probably like this product since it is temporary (lasts about 4-6 weeks) and you do have some control over how much coverage you want. If you vary the development time, you will get different results. I would look at their website http://www.lorealparisusa for more info on this product and definately call the toll free # for more assistance.

Also, you really shouldn`t limit yourself to `mens` only haircolouring products - I use L`Oreal Preference and I love the result I get. No where on any haircolouring product does it say that this product is specifically designed for women only and these products are also far superior at colouring grey hair than temporary products are.
