QuoteReplyTopic: need help on hair products OTHER than gel - please read Posted: July 21 2002 at 8:14pm
I`ve been reading some old threads but they didn`t help me much. I`m looking for something that will make my hair look wet (and shiny?) even when it`s dry or later on in the day.
But, I am NOT looking for a type of Gel, or something that will hold my hair in position. I am not interested in that type of stuff. I`m looking for something maybe like a leave-in conditioner of somekind that will give my hair a wet and shiny look, maybe even a `grease` of some kind? I do not want any type of gel , nor need hold. Maybe even something that I can leave in my hair and go to sleep? (cause when I put gel on it irritates me if I don`t wash it out before I sleep). thanks
well you could try putting some olive oil into your hair in the morning - a SMALL amount please. cos if you overdo it ur hair`s gonna look really greasy and disgusting.
personally, i think ur best bet would be hair cream. it doesn`t hold your hair down and gives a nice shine - you can put more if u want it to look wet. and yes, i`ve gone to bed with hair cream in my hair and i was fine... woke up with really shiny/soft hair.

It sounds like you want a silicone shine-enhancer. I`ve used them and they work wonders. They come in both spray and serum form and are almost entirely silicone (dimethicone, phenyl trimethicone, anything ending in "cone.") They are great for enhancing your hair`s shine with no hold. The effect won`t last all day but you`ll get a nice sheen for awhile. Hope this helps.

Another good (and probably a little less expensive) option than some of those products is Brylcreem. Yeah, I know... That`s for "old people", right? Nah. I bought some on a whim a while back, just to see how I liked it. (And I`m "only" 25.) Use a little, and you got a soft, flexible hold. Use more, and you get a good shine. Your hair`ll still move no matter how much you use, so no worries about "helmet hair" or anything like that. It also conditions a bit, and won`t hurt your hair if you leave it in overnight.
And yes, it works for all sorts of hairstyles. When I`ve just had my hair cut, (shaved w/ #2 guard around sides and back, blended into top with the front left a bit longer), I use a little and get a great messy/spikey look. When it gets longer, I use a little just to keep it looking nice and neat, or more if I decide to go with more of a "retro" look with a bit of a pompadour.
Try using ‘Coconut oil Hair shine’ from the body shop. It is a great leave-in conditioner and it is for most hair types especially dry hair. it doesn`t hold your hair and gives a nice shine and smell (that is if you like coconut smell). And of course you can sleep while it is in your hair. It will leave your hair soft and shiny/soft. Only use a little because it might look too greasy. And above all it is really cheep :o)

baby oil is good. use sparingly. leaves hair wet looking all day. leaves hair soft and silky. use wet style gel. they dont have that much hold. body or hand lotion is good stuff too. a friend of mine use a conditioner,a normal kind, not those leave in kind, and left it all day. wet looking
