QuoteReplyTopic: Do you think guy branded products are just bottles of the same stuff with the labels changed? Posted: May 11 2003 at 11:13am
Hey I was just wondering you know, we have now seen so many products out their claiming they are targeted at men. I mean whats the different between a mans hair and a womans hair other then the length but then we see men with long waist length hair and women who just like an easy manageble short crop. I mean its kinda dumb, but when I think it over for a while I have to remember that New Age Men like myself who actually want to care for my skin, my hair, and my body are really just imerging. I mean I used products that are targeted at women all the time. You know shampoo, gel, creams and stuff. I mean I dont care as long as it works for my self and I dont become effeminate after I am using it which is the stereotype whem a guys uses just a wee bit.... wait a whole lot of face, body, skin products. I been there. Trust me, its not pretty ") I mean really they are really trying to attract men to use their product by doing al macho and stuff, but hey I am all out to their devotion trying to make a product guy friendly. Beside the prices are the almost the same or less and very simple which is nice. Stuff like 2 in 1 shampoo that is good 2 in 1 facial foam that doubles as a shaving cream An aftershave that also acts like a moisturizer Oh and the packeging that looks cool and manly So its a good thing after all the industry is looking out for men now
Many of the Men oriented products are in fact designed specifically for men and the special problems that men have.
The new MIN for Men products that we have recently added to the Marketplace contain DHT blockers. Dihydrotestosterone or DHT has been shown to cut off blood supply to the hair follicles.
DHT is not well received by male (and some female) hair follicles, cutting off blood supply which is critical to growth of new hair. Thinning and or balding process begins when this occurs, in other words DHT related hair loss.
So yes, Men oriented product are different.

hmmm..........cool but then this is only intended with products targeted at men who have hair loss or experiencing it, but how about shampoo, conditoners, styling products, creams and stuff. How is the formula different from womens stuff?

While I can't say this for everything, there are always exceptions, often, it's just color and fragrance sometimes (which i find utter crap regardless)
I hate all of the following and lots more : Fundamentalists, racists, sexists, fascists, ageists (people saying seniors = senile , kids = stupid , 18 = immature or a combo of them), and bigots for causes yet to receive their own designation.

Well... for us guys, since we are generally predisposed to hair loss using a product with DHT blockers can be preventative.
I am going to start using the MIN for Men products and will let you know how it goes.

Good luck Jeff! Look forward to hearing how well it works for you.
Kintaro has a point. A couple weekends ago I took a trip out of town and actually used one of those free sample one-use S & C's from Clairol... Herbal Essences. I think I last used the stuff nearly 30 years ago... anyway it did smell a bit "fragrant" for my tastes but the scent toned down after a day or two (remember, I wash once a week).
Wow, I never heard that DHT can inhibit hair growth. The things you learn on this board!
But I clicked on the thread title because it made me laugh. Why shouldn't they relabel products as "men's" products. They do that with "ladie's" shaving foam! Skintimate is no different from Edge or any man's shaving foam, except for maybe the scent.
