QuoteReplyTopic: Want To Change Cut & Add Color? Posted: May 18 2003 at 2:50pm
Karen or anyone that might help, I am a 24 year old guy and I want to cut my hair from shoulder length to the shorter spikey look. I also want to change the color. What should I do first? Is it better to cut first, color first? Do I need to go to a different person for each thing?
Thanks. I really like this site and have gotten a lot of great info about my hair.

cut and then color :) i think you will go to the same salon and maybe one stylist will cut and another with more experienced in colouring will colour. Spikes.. cool it does look nice :) do you want to go like Matthew from the latest survivor. he cut his medium length hair short enough to spike it and he adds higlights to it :)
You have to cut your hair first, because if you colour it when it's long and then cut it short, you will end up with dots on the shorter parts of your hair. Whereas if you have it cut and then add colour, dotted colour can be avoided.
Also it maked more sense to go to the same salon for both, it's simply easier. Plus if you go to a reputabl;e chain, your likely to save money. They will probably give you some sort of 'cut and colour' discount. And let me know how it turns out.
