I want to get my haircut like this. What directions should I give the girl at great clips to achieve this look.

Why not just show the stylist the picture?

I would if I had a printer. Really what I need is the terms used to describe this haircut(tapered, blended, etc)

Thanks,

I am not sure about this but you can tell you hair stylist that you want you sides to be "sloped". You know those inclines on the side of the hair. Maybe the other word for that is tapered but I am not sure. I would say about a number 1 or 2 clip at the bottom side of the hair. I think the hair on the back would be sloped this way too. You can see the guy I think parted his hair on both side on top of his head, the pic is not that clear on that detail. You would want to keep your bangs short about 2 inches or something but just make sure that when the stylist cuts the crown of your hair she does not make it flat. This style is a classic look. In my opinion you could get this haircut easily a barbershop where they specialized in mens haircut. I think he would understand what I said. Just remember to keep this image when you get the haircut Find a barber who has many years of experiences. He will do the same if not better job than a salon stylist would but only cheaper.
I am not dissing any stylist out there, its just that for simple cuts like that it would be better to go to a barber.
I still go to a stylist for colouring, straigtning and treatment but I prefer a barber cutting my hair.
p.s use pomade or gel to have the hair spikes on the crown

A #1 or #2 would probably be too severe (I've tried this cut before). Roughly speaking, these are 1/8's of an inch.

#3 or #4 (half-inch) would probably be much safer.
