hair gels

i have about medium hair length (wouldn't say short, or long), and i'm just seeing what you guys use, or could recommend to me for what hair gel to use. i currently use a "glue texture" gel from Loreal, however, now that my hair has been getting a bit longer, it's been becoming harder to hold. i don't like the really liquidy gel, but prefer the more thicker "glue" gel, which provides much more hold.

what do you guys do about your hair? what kind of gel do you use, or could you recommend?

i've noticed that with the current gel that i use, when i rub it through my hair, it dries up fast so that it makes it difficult to style. if i use too much of it, it kind of slops over and doesn't hold at all, or if i use too little, then it won't hold at all. it's frustrating as hell.
