QuoteReplyTopic: Tha TRUTH about pomades... Posted: July 06 2004 at 10:30pm
Can anyone testify to the fact that pomades slow down the wave process? Cuz I used Lets Jam! and immediately washed that ish out. It just made my hair friz up, made my waves less visable, and did not seem like held well at all. After that I bought Murrays (after switching from S-curl 360), and that ish seems to be on point. Hella strong for holding hair, but does that slow down getting deeper waves because it holds hair so well. I NEED TO KNOW!?!?!? anybody with REAL insite on this situation i.e. "experience," plz, holla at a playa. Peace! and thx.
I had the same question and someone answered it and said that pomades are for holding your hair and I should try to get a defined wave pattern first so I stopped using those pomades for about 3 weeks now and my waves seem to be getting better but I'm definitely switching back to pomades...Right now I'm just working on getting that "natural defined wave pattern"
Lol, which lets Jam did you use? Don't go near the one with the purple lid if ur trying to hold waves, get the one with the orange lid that says extra hold and it actually says it is good for holding waves. With me I find it does the same job as the wave pomade, but it doesn't leave my hair as dry. But I still can't understand what my barber used to do to my hair that would allow my waves to be so deep after a cut. I used to grow my hair for about 3 weeks, then go get it cut on the sides and back and just tell my barber to leave the top how it was. He would run through the top very lightly with a blade getting rid of the split ends, I've tried that with my own clippers but it don't have the same effect.

Pomades are only for when your hair is low because they make your waves more visible and make them shine. I use the wave gel when my hair grows to make my waves deeper. Also when you use the gel products in your hair you are also supposed to put Pink Lotion in your hair with it.
remember pomades are useful once u develop ur wave pattern. just chill on da pomades for now and work on constructin ur natural wave pattern by using products like pink lotion, jam and wave jel act. once u get waves hella deep then use pomades and then u wont hav to brush as much.

Dogg, I did use the one that says extra hold, and as far as I can tell it didnt hold for ish. I dunno, my hair is gettin pretty long, and I need to get my hair cut this week, maybe thats why it didnt hold, or didnt APPEAR like it was holding well. Im gonna get my hair cut friday and my wizzels should be on spinnaz, so I'll try LETS JAM! again. Like I said, I washed it out like 10 min after I put it in cuz I didnt think it was effective. But i'll give it a lil time...next time I put it in. Peace.

I use Lets Jam in the morning after I have washed my hair and I use Pink Oil in the night after I have washed my hair, but someone said that you need to use pink oil when you use gel products, why? I can understand the need for it when u just use pomades as they don't contain any nutrients, but Let's Jam as got that sh1t.
Listen up, forget pink oil. Its koo, but THE TRUTH is OLIVE OIL. Not only does it bring a better shine to your hair, exaggerating your waves more so than pink oil, but it provides more nurients, its a better moisturizer, and it promotes hair growth. TRUST ME, im sorry that I wasted six dollarz on pink oil. Olive Oil is a bit more expensive (like $9), but if you want quality, then you pay for quality. Holla Back.
