Right now I'm trying to break my pattern of going to the salon every couple months and losing most of my growth. I used to have an excuse because I was growing out coloring damage, but now that I'm free of it I'm taking advantage of being able to go months without trims. I got a trim last in mid January, and I'm aiming to go a couple more months still. My ends have been looking less pretty lately, so today I bought a new conditioner to perk things up.

MY last time was a forced horrible lab experiment in my hair involving rakes and sutff.

My next time should be Sunday, thanks to a contact uzma gave me a while back.
I hate all of the following and lots more : Fundamentalists, racists, sexists, fascists, ageists (people saying seniors = senile , kids = stupid , 18 = immature or a combo of them), and bigots for causes yet to receive their own designation.

My husband trimmed my ends Sunday night. Just the split ends. About a half inch total, nothing much. I hate the thought of getting a "haircut". He is a well behaved husband, he does as he is told, when he is told :)
Just kidding, of course, but he listens, at least some of the time. He can't help it though, he is a man. But he has never exhibited the urge to get scissor happy on me. So I'll trust him until he gives me reason not to. My hair trimmed straight across the back, just above my bumm.

I´m taking it off one centimeter a month now, to get my bangs, or what´s left of them, to catch up. I guess I have about 13-15 centimeters to go.

And, I´m experimenting with letting my hair off schampoo, totally. I´m giving it a month or two, then I´ll get back to you all about the results. Right now, after two weeks, it feels ok, but different. More specifically, it looks a lot better than it feels, and usually it´s the other way around.

Ok I think it's better if I give a history of my trims and cuts to give a better idea of my frequency.

In April 1994 I got my then 9 inch (measured a plucked strand) neck length hair cut to 3.5 inches all over. I had just turned 18 and decided that for the first time in my life I would get a haircut by my own choice and my own length choices.

I then grew my hair without a trim until late 1997. I went to get a trim to "even it up" and after talking it over with the stylist who was nice, we decided that my hair had grown out uneven. This was because my 3.5 inch cut had a lot of feathering in it because I asked for it. I didn't want blunt ends back then.
I then had trims very frequently every 2 - 4 months from late 97 until May 2001 when I had a trim by a student in Cosmetology School right before I dropped out halfway through. I then went without a trim for 3 years again until this March.

On about March 24th I was waiting for my computer to defragment so I took the time to go through the right front section of my hair. I did what is called search and destroy where you just go through patiently and if you see a split on a hair you snip that hair's split off just above it.

Then on March 26th I trimmed my own hair using Feye's self trimming instructions.
http://members.fortunecity.com/feye/trim/index.html

I used the instructions on her U shape page for trimming a slight U, meaning I tilted my head back like she said. I am very satisfied with the results I got from it. Considering I had gone for 3 years without a trim I am very happy that I only lost 2 inches on a few pieces the width of my finger (basically the tip of a V shape) and then the rest was .5 inches on average.

My hair growth wise is still a bit uneven but it's not because of my trimming.

The other day I was laying in bed with my hair in my Sleep Tail. (My bed time style)

I had the tail in front of me and I was looking at it. I then twisted the very bottom portion below the second elastic, about 3-4 inches and saw how the little splits popped up. So I decided that sooner or later I would try that again with just that portion and then nip those splits.
So I believe it was thursday day time that I decided to give it a try. First I twisted the whole tail end one way and snipped splits then I decided to split the tail end into 3 sections. I then did each section twisting them in both directions and snipping. Then I took the whole end and twisted it the opposite direction from earlier and nipped a few more.

It wasn't an all over dusting but it was better than what I had before.

That's where I am at on my trimming.

Last trim was in March, I usually trim my hair 1/2" every other month. I'm skipping the next couple though because I want to make an appt. at a GM salon. I want to be able to give them 1-2" to triim.
