Hi guys, hope this thread catches on - I`m wondering how we`re all wearing our hair as we chat here.
I`ll start - mine`s mid-shoulder-blade, straight with a few layers, blonde, no bangs - and right now I`ve got it half up with a small narrow silver barrette, quite low, with a couple of tiny jaws holding the layers each side in place.
I usually wear my hair up, favourite is either a french braid starting about halfway down or a real tigh formal chignon with pins (and time and spray!)
Looking forward to hearing about your dos and swapping some ideas!
hey,im wearing my hair half way up with the scalp forming a line across the back..its tied up with just a simple ponytail holder..i think i might i might put all my hair into two big pigtails in a min since im just lying around the house :)
My hair is layered, dyed blonde, about 5 inches past my shoulders at the longest layer, and one inch above the shoulder at the shortest layer. Currently, though, I have it in a ton of little braids, so it`s a lot shorter than usual. I want to grow it all out to my waist, and then get a professional braiding artist to do really nice braids (my friend that did my current braids is really good and braids tight, but I have ends that are unwanted). Wish me luck people, as I strive for... at least 7 more inches.
Hi there. I have my hair parted on the side, then rolled or twisted back and coiled into a bun at the nape. It`s really hot here in Minnesota, so I`ve got an excuse to try out lots of braids and updos! Oh, and my fancy hairsticks---I am wearing carnelian ones today. Kim B.
i just took it out of a low bun about 5 minutes ago, now it`s down... I got this straight VERY thick brown hair down to my natural waist, and I LUV IT! it has layers in the front, started from 2 inches down from my chin...

No, Gord, that is not the point of this thread. The point is to give us new ideas on how to wear our hair -- a chance to break away from our norm -- not to fullfil fantasies/fetishes.

No where in that original post did it say anything about arousing male readers.

My hair used to be bra length with layers in the front, but recently cut it up to my shortest layer - which is about 2 inches below my chin. Now it is an undercut bob that is graduated so it`s longer in the front. Now here is why I cut it....
Why? My husband and I were "racing to the butt" - it was our way of supporting each other to keep from impulse-cutting our hair. We would measure our hair on the same date every month and keep track of it on the calendar. We were always within 1.5 inches of each other -swapping the lead. If I was in a bad mood, he would say "Oh, she`s just mad because my hair is longer than hers." The "winner" got to be treated to the dinner of their choice by the "loser". (The last time he took me to my fave restaurant it cost him $100 for both of us -- this is the big time. No McDonalds! ;) )
Then his work built a new store and they implimented a new dress code. One of the things that was brought to the attention of his boss by the consultant was Ted`s hair/gotee not being professional. (He washed and styled it every day. He had wavy hair like dave decker *wimper*) He was not going to cut it and was even willing to get demoted or look for another job -- not because he felt that strongly about cutting it, but because he didn`t want to upset me. So, after he left for work one day, I went and had 8 inches of hair cut off. That was the same amount of hair he would lose when he cut his hair.
I went to their grand opening after getting it cut, and there were mixed motions from everyone. "Looks Cute!! Not cool tho, Trix -- you cut off your trademark." Some were downright angry. I never had any clue that this would upset so many! (I am known as the haircare guru around here and have a reputation for awesome long damage-free hair.) My husband didn`t know whether to love me more or cry. When he asked why, and i told him the race wouldn`t be fair if I won under these circumstances, he was definitely moved.
That night, I cut hubby`s hair. Our son was a little confused and asked why (he was growing his out too, but only had 8" from crown to tip). When we explained it to him, he decided he was cutting his too. We later spiked his hair and bleached it white. So, in total between the 3 of us, we lost over 2 feet of hair.
Now for the firestorm that followed....when other employees found out why ted cut his hair, they were mad. Customers were mad, too and said as much to the bosses. One of the employees brought it up in the manager`s meeting and basically told them that if he had dirty unkept hair, yes but given the care that goes into his tresses -- they were completely out of line. (My husband also got deep conditioning treatments etc.) The end result was an apology from all the bosses.
Did I mention he worked in a motorcycle shop? As you can imagine, his clientele with the piercings and tatoos, long hair and long beards, or funky colored hair view my husband as conservative!!
I looked at my hubby the other day and told him he was due for a trim -- his response? "not for another 3 years" Here we go again!
Boy this is long. my apologies....one more thing.
My stylist/best friend/maid of honor (yes she was busy on my wedding day - she did all our hair!) is out on maternity leave. When she gets back I told her she could do my hair however she wanted short of cutting it or coloring it with manic panic (that`s my sons department). She has had ideas of coloring it for the longest time and short of adding a few extra highlights of my natural highlight color, I haven`t let her.
My hair is naturally med blonde with gold highlights. I have olive skin and green eyes. I know olive skin on a blonde is odd, but my entire family is dark - mom is native american and dad is italian. I get my blondness from my great grandmother, but I have my parents skin. I colored my hair dark brown for 14 years to fit in and 5 years ago I started letting it go natural.
Does anyone have some ideas? I was thinking lowlights might be nice, but I don`t know if anyone here has had that done and whether or not you have liked it.

FoxFan, you apparently have no sense of humor whatsoever. You know I adore longhaired women. My point was to pass that on. This is a thread of longhair encouragement, right? After all, the opening question was "How are you wearing your hair as you read this?", not "Give me a new idea on how to wear my hair." I thought the question was unique and delightful and I appreciate all the responses. Lighten up.

My Apologies!
After fielding a bunch of ICQ/AIM requests for authorization for "hair help/advice" only to find out they are men with some serious issues with hair fetishes (Some even went as far as saying they were women!), I came here and saw your post.
I apologize for my over-reaction, had it not been for the other crap, I prolly would not have reacted that way. See, that will teach me to come here first instead!
I am sorry, Gord. You are right, with you I should know better......is it possible to be forgiven?
