Help! I singed the ends of my hair on the stove burner element. It didn't really burn off too much. The problem is that it smells like burnt hair. I tried washing it and it still smells. Will I have to cut some off?

yeah, chop it. I hate to say it but it's never gonna look, feel, or in your case, smell the same again. It'll grow back and Im sure finding creative ways to fix it to look better won't be hard to find thanx to everyone here.

Oh my, Suers! How awful.
I have to believe that the burnt smell will wash out. Have you aired out your residence of the smell? That smell is nasty, I know.
I think the answer to your question can be determined by looking at the ends of the strands in the area that was burned. Are there little bulbs on the ends, that make combing or brushing difficult at the ends, and resulting in more tangles? If so, you can either try to individually trim the affected strands, or trim all of your hair so that it is an even length.
Let us know what you do.

Sorry to hear about the singeing incident. My hair caught on fire about 7 years ago. Some of the burnt hair fell out when I ran my fingers through it just after the flames went out. Then, some more fell out when I brushed it. I hope you have better luck than I did, but I had to cut my hair a few days after it got burnt. The singed parts that didn't fall out looked really dry compared to the rest of my hair. I tried to repair it, but loads of conditioner did nothing to improve the smell or texture. It's better to have shorter healthy hair than longer damaged hair. Good luck. Glad you weren't seriously injured. After all, it is only hair. It will grow back.
