Here's a duplicate of my post in the General board:

Are you growing out from a bob? pixie? What hairdo? How is your hair layered?

When you're growing out, the best thing is to keep that major cutting urge controlled... instead, get regular shaping trims to push you in the right direction. I started with a pixie and had some regular "shaping" trims along the way. Now it's even in the back and the shorter layers are about chest length. By wintertime, I'm going to take a pause to maintain the length for awhile until the layers grow out. Is this what you're trying to do?

Hi Noodle,

I know the feeling. Like Anais, I started with an extremely short haircut. Now, my sig pic shows my progress. As it first grew, into a shaggy mess, I had my hair shaped just a tiny bit every 6 weeks. This always helped improve the shape and layers, allowing me to keep my sanity as it grew out. The worst of it was over within 2 years. But the results were worth it.

There may be some photos in the photo galleries here that show you possibilities for layers-on-the-grow. You can find the link to the galleries on the home page.

Good luck and hang in there. Let us know how it goes for you.
