hey guys `n` gals, i`m planning on dyeing my hair blue or pink or purple or whatever...(if anyone has a preference on the color gimme your opinion ; ) but i have really dark brown hair. how can i lighten my hair without totally killing it? is there a certain kind of bleach of way of bleaching? thanx for the advice!

well no matter what you do to your hair it will damage it...but however if you use a light developer (say vol. 10) for about 30 minutes it wouldn`t hurt your hair too much. Now however with a vol 10 you most likely won`t get as light as you wish...so maybe you could use a 20 developer for 20 minutes and then wash out and see how light it has gotten and if you need it to be more light so that the dyes you have might work. If not just try to guess and put another application on for about another 20 minutes or so.
Unfortunently to say though its impossible to not damage your hair...but if you haven`t ever dyed your hair before it shouldn`t be too badly dried out:)
btw a really light purple (kinda of a lilac) is my fav color on hair:P

How about dying it a much lighter brown first and having it like that(using lots of condititioner) for a few weeks beofre you bleach it?
