hey! how do you get rid of split ends?

The only way to get rid of them is cut them. There are some products that will temporarily mend them together, but there is no way to "fix" them.

Yeah, cut them off. Better yet, have a salon or trusted friend do it for you. They can measure the length and cut it evenly without missing as many parts as you might by doing it yourself. Once you cut the damaged parts off, your hair will be healthier. To avoid getting them in the future, condition regularly, use hot oil treatments sporadically, watch out for too much brushing and combing, and avoid ponytails like the plague!

Do what I do - put your hair in a ponytail and cut off about an inch yourself. It`s cheap and I do it about once a month.
Make sure the scissors are sharp though, I once made the mistake of using blunt scissors and really messed it up - I had to go to a barbers and get it all cut very short.
