HEY! I have Brown hair and its about one inch below my sholders and its all one lengh. I was thinking of getting layers. what to you think?

Layers are very bad for your hair. Once you cut it, the longer layers will nearly stop growing so the shorter layers can catch up. Also your hair will be more prone to splits.
Get some cool accessories or a new conditioner instead.
I`d say to grow your hair out even longer, but you seem to want the layers...hey it`s your hair :)

FYI: The longer layers absolutely will NOT stop growing to "let the shorter layers catch up." That is physically impossible, as is the common myth that cutting/trimming hair will cause it to grow faster. Nothing you do to the ends of your hair will affect the biological processes going on at the roots. The hair shaft grows from the root, which is underneath your scalp in the skin. By the time a hair shaft starts to appear, it is already dead. Nothing you do to the external shaft will change the rate of growth at the root--hair simply isn`t intelligent enough to know the difference between hair lengths at the bottom. Think about that--if the above poster`s theory were correct, people with bangs would never have long hair, because the rest of their hair would "stop growing" to let the bangs "catch up."
If you`d like layers, consider the fact that yes, they do indeed take awhile to grow out if you don`t like them. Is your hair fine, medium or thick? Stacked layers can add body to medium-fine hair with the help of a good stylist. Ask that person for pictures of different cuts. Pick one you think will look good and is compatible with your hair`s texture. Good luck! :-)

Natalie is misinformed. The previous post answers this brilliantly. I usually find that layers do not work too well on hair that is thin. Thin hair should go for a blunt cut. Fine hair can have layers if it is thick. Some people confuse the terminology which can lead to misconceptions. Coarse/fine hair deals with the diameter of the individual hair. Thick/thin hair deals with the amount of hair in a given section (i.e. 1 centimeter squared).

so it`s not true that getting trims will make it grow faster? nevermind, I`m thinking that getting a trim wont make it grow longer. I avent gotten my hair cut for a while and it hasnt been growing. *sorry*
who says you cant get a 2 minute buzz from light beer.
