Hi Avril,

Believe me, I know what you're going through. My hair is like yours and I live in Southeastern Texas so keeping it straight is near impossible. However, I've found certain things work. Have you heard of HAI ceramic flat irons? They get very hot but they wont damage your hair since you have to run it down the hair so fast. The ionic technology will help repel the humidity. Also, gels and balms can help a great deal. Some good ones to try are Sebastian's Concentrated Smoothing Polish and Biosilk Silk Therapy. They're expensive but are more beneficial than the cheapy ones, I think. Be careful, though, they contain lots of silicones and will build up on the hair if you don't clarify at least once a week.

I hope this helps you somewhat and please feel free to ask any more questions, and I will do my best to answer them. :)

hey! this is avril, i have like, no money, so the pricy things wont really work. i shower every morning, and i heard that if you get a straightening brush and starighten your hair while the blowdryers on, and then use the iron, and spray hairspray it will straighten your hair for like the day. where do i get a straightening brush? and how much are the irons you were talking about? thanks!

~~~ Avril
Hi,
The HAI irons are fairly expensive; they're about $100. However, Sally's sells cheaper ones for about $25-$30. I've heard they're just as good as the expensive irons so you might want to check out one of those. But definitely go with a ceramic iron. Sally Beauty Supply also sells straightening brushes. HTH!
If ya don't have time in the moring, set the alarm 30 min. earlier and take showers at night! I wish I were more help, but my ultimate advice is KEEP IT CURLY! I love curly hair and can never keep mine. But if its hard to manage then...
