how about some decent high-street brands (for a student. haha) which will make my hair look good? its down to my eyes on the front and over my ears on the sides (flick out abit at the sides) normally i just stick a hat on after washing it so it stays flat and looks alright. then it starts to go downhill after about 12 hours n starts to look sh1t. help! maybe its just my age u reckon? im 16...so maybe that has sometime to do with it? |

I'm 20, at university. I have hair that is abut shoulder length at the back, I usually just wear it in a ponytail, any idea what else I can do with it? It's very soft, and pretty thick. I've had one person tell me to get bangs. |

| Hey King of Leon!!! There r lots of great and cheap brands out there for u depending on what ur doing!!! Some of my favs are, for jsut everyday, to keep it lookin good for longer than an hour I love salon selectives feel'n'control gel!!! for spikes theres um stiff $@&! hair glue and u can use salon selectives wax, u can also use that on wings!!! Hope that helps!! Oh and stay away from sport gels, there gross!!! |

Hey somedude!!! u know whats really hot right now, shagy hair, and I think it would probably look great on u!!!! If u get it cut (possibly with a razzer) u can put in long bangs and have ur hair just passed ur ears, then u can leave it shaggy, blow it straight or put in wings (very hot)!!! | Well, shaggy hair doesn't look good on me, believe me ;-), and I'm currently trying to grow my hair long, so I dont want to cut any length off. I'm not what kind of bangs I could get that would look ok for me. |

OK sumedude, if u want to keep growing your hair out and want to leave it the same length but want bang I would suggest to get it razered about two inches down your forhead and slope it getting longer and longer as u go down till it is the same length as the rest of your hair, this should look really good and sexy, and takes some of the one length look away which isn't all that atractive on guys!!!! hope this helps ------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

Last year I grew my hair out for probaly 4 months. I usually have it really short on the sides ( buzzed ) and bout an inch and a half on top so I can put a little gel and push it down. but as I grew it out, towards the end of that period my hair was getting longer but also VERY THICK!! and I had to buy a new hat bcuz the size I orignally wore was way too small... so my head got BIGGER!!?!?! WATSUPWITDAT?!?! When I was a kid my hair was longer and it was really soft and thin and it just fell over my head and parted down the middle. So I think if I was to grow it back out it'd do the same... but I was wondering if you could tell me is there a way I could make it grow out and be a little wavy, (not as thick as last year), flip out... and I want it probally a little by my ears. Last year when I wore my cap... my hair would go around my ear and flip out sum... so WEAR A HAT A LOT AFTER SHOWERS?!?!?! SO I hear... but do you have any suggestions on how to make my hair no so thick when grown out, and to make it flip out??? ------------- -STAY DRUG FREE- |

Hey Brett howsit going!! K there r diffrent types of coloring there are highlight which are small and can be put anywhere as lil as as many as u want, there r streaks which u mentioned which are thicker then highlights, then theres chunks which r the thickest, In my opinion highlights look best on guys, cuz streaks and chunks r a little to thick but it depends on what ur into!!!! Hey Jeff sup? anyways Hair usually gets thicker when u grow it out is natural, and when ur young ur hair will be alot thiner, I Have wavy thick hair now and when I was a kid it was baby fine and straight. If u wanna grow it out and keep it thin ask for it to be thinned when u get it cut, this will keep it managable and lookin good. And if u wanna do flips or wings or w/e u wanna call them u can take a round brush and a blowdryer to towled dry hair (o first work a gel or moose threw ur hair) then bring the brush fallowed by the dryer down and flipping ends up, add a little waz to the ends to keep them up!!! Hey there, spiking is very hot right now and you have just the perfect length to do it, and its also one of the easiest styles to do, all you need is some strong hold gel or wax!!!! remeber a little goes along ways and just play around with ur hair, try mohawks or other styles when ur feeling wild also u can get temporary hair sprays and frost your hair with it!!!!  have fun------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

Hey everyone srry I haven't been on for awhile my computer died!!! but anyways heres my replys- bludbruther- u can make liberty spikes by getting a hard wax or gel (or glue) and apply it to 70% dry hair. Use the product and your fingure tips to prop your hair up, when it sits by itself spray it with a hard hold hairspray. This only works 90% of the time though,somepeoples hair just wount spike. |

MAtt- you can get ur hair cut like tom cruise and spike it, to do that read blud bruthers and for the mohawk u still use the smae products on 70% dry hair but use your fingurtips and wax to pull the hir to the middle of your scelp and make it stick out, also use a little to flatten flyways and when it stands up by itself hair spray it that way!!!! ------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

Hey, thats actually kinda weird because usually when thick wavy hair is cut it becomes thick curly hair. U said u wanted a shag style, and I am guessing you want one with wavy hair, now you could get a cute and try to coax your hair to wave with moose, blowdryer (or even curler) or u could pick a shag style for straight hair. But what I would do is pick one that doesn't matter if its wavy or straight, then if u want it wavy, u can have it that way, but it wount look stupid if u have no time to do anything to it!!! Heya, I have really thick and long hair. It ends around the nose area. My problem is, my hair will never do what I want it to do right away. Usauly I'll throw a hat on during the day because my hair is constantly trying to be on it's own. It fluffs up, it strays and goes all over the place and it is generaly just plain, bad. I dont like to use Gels and other stuff like that, because I have natural jet black hair and gels make it look uncleansed. Or maybe it's because I apply way to much. =P I've been told to use other things like, wax, hair spray and conditioner (Yes, thats right, I dont use conditioner) but, I do not know which brand would be best for the monster that is my hair! What do you reccomend I do to keep my hair clean looking, styled and GOOD! P.S. Ive already tried wearing a dunce hat and sitting in the corner, but my hair never got the point. It was still bad =( |

kevvosa, thats a great cut, take that pic and tell ur stylist to give ur razored lazers, and get ur hair thinned, at least on top. ull probably need wax or somehting and blow dry it straight, depending on how (un straight) ur hair is!!! if its kinda curly ull need a falt iron!!! u can get highlight or a dyejob at the salon, they'll show u colors and help u through it ------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

hey Rose! I'm Asian, and I have short and thin hair. I'm pretty sure you have had experience with different clipper heights, since you know so much about hair. Whether I grow my hair out or shave the top with a #2 (1/4") and blend the sides, I've had straight spikes for the longest time. As of this moment, I have grown my hair out for the summer and I am growing a type of 'fro. I'd like to try flames all over or curved spikes on the top and blended sides. How can I go about those two options (as far as: What type of haircut? and How do I apply the gel?) Please let me know. Thanks!

Hey i'm a 22/m, and i'm looking to do something different with my hair. It's almost an inch long on the top and I keep it pretty short on the sides and back. Its a dark brown color although when I look at it in the mirror its not a harsh dark or black, sorta past medium brown, but closer to dark brown kinda. I've been trying to think up something different, but havent been able to get any ideas. I gel it up sometimes, but what are some other ideas; style and color wise? ------------- |

hey jb, I think one of ur problems is that ur hairs to short, and ull hafta let it grow out first, u can use wax to get it textured like the hairstyle pic, or if u grow it out more than that u can make it shaggy by using moose or foam and scrunching (scrunching your hair in your fist after putting moose in). to get the spikes nice and high u can use your fingures with a lil wax, and press into the hair when until they stand up like u want, take larger sections too so it doesn't look as all over spiky!!! for both u can set it with hairsrpay!!! l8r ------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

Looking for a few opinions. I'm a 20yr old caucasian male. Straight hair and I spike it on a regular basis as you can see in http://www.onceuponalifetime.net/Boy's%20Video/14.jpg - this picture. My hair is just a little bit longer than in the picture, now. I was thinking about getting twisties in my hair after seeing one of my black friends with them in his hair. hey unknown (welcome to the site by the way) every persons hair differs to wat kinda stuff it likes, I say experiment, and read lables, for shampoo and conditioner u said that u have thick hair so try a straightening shampoo and a moisterizing conditiner (that was an example) test stuff out, u may find that u like panteen shampoo and outrageous conditioner (when u see best reasults with the same brand stuff, there tryin to get u to buy there stuff, it's not actually true) also, once u found a shampoo and conditioner u really like, stick with it, after a few months u may see that ir hair isn't liking it anymore, just switch to a diffrent S&C for a bit, then switch back, it'll work again!!! as for gels and stuff, depends on wat u wanna do, u wanna tame wet hair for later, use gel (not sport gel either) u wanna spike it or so something funky, use wax or palmade, if u want shaggy hair or voulume use foam etc. feel free to post again if u have anymore ?'s ------------- ~*Rose*~ ~Beauty rules are meant to be broken, and put back together in your own way~ |

My friend had what i call "twisties" where it looks like there are half inch curls or rolls all in line with one another. I'm getting them done tomorrow at lunch. Yo. I have 1.5 - 2.0 inch wavy hair. I wanna run single hair down my forhead off the sides coz i think it's sexy. The problem is, the hair curls immediately after I do that... Will gel help? I have hair and sideburns like on that pic and I actually look quite similar to that guy, only lots younger.  Here, can you see the things he has? I wanna make those single strings stay on my forehead like that all the time. Is there any way to make my hair stay shiny and moist for longer periods of time as on that pic? |

Hi wild rose I was just wondering if you could give me some advice i am thinking about getting foil highlight / blonde foils added to my hair . I feel dead shy as i am a scottish guy I currently have blonde highlights but with the cap method . The reason why i am thinking about going from cap to foil is because i suffer from headaches when hair is pulled through the cap . | Hey Del, yup I can help u out, u need wax for that stryle, u can put a lil on ur finger and kinda twist the sections u want on ur forehead down till u get the effect u want, u can rub a lil more through ur hair to get that spikey look, and they spray the hair with hairsrpay and let it dry. That moist look, is sweat, that guys hair is naturally thin and curly and the curls are comin out when the hair becomes damp. other than tellin u to do a couple laps, I cant help u!!! |

Hey yellowhighlights and scothish guy, (if ur not the same person) theres not the much diffrence between foil and cap method, cept that with the foil method u can get bigger highlights. u just have to tell the stylist how big u want them, and how many, and ask for foil highlights. Hey meph, take the pic in to a stylist and ask for that exact style, the colorings cool actually, I really like that, anyways- when u get it done ask wat kinda products or tools to use. My hair it flips at the ends. im trying to put it like Tom Delonge but it has a major flip it flips all the way up and CVS gel and water have not work wut shud i use to keep it straight and preferelly not harden it much. |

| hey andre, u might wanna try using a straighting iron on the ends of ur hair, this will striaghten out your flips without any product at all!!! Note: If ur gonna use a straighting iron everyday, only spot press and spray with leave on conditioner first!!!! |

| I don't really have a way of getting a picture up here, but my hair is medium length (middle of my ears) on the sides, a little shorter in front and parted down the middle. It is a little layered (it grew out from buzzed on the sides) so i tuck the sides behind my ears. This makes it kinda follow the line of my glasses from the part in the front and then get longer as it goes around my ears. I feel like its gettin kind of "nerdy" and plain, so i was hoping for some tips on a medium length cut. I've had like every short cut possible and i've had many different colors (highlights and fully done) in the past so it feels like i'm at a dead end. |

Hey Dan, dont worry, theres never a dead end, there are tons of haircuts u havent tryed believe me. I was thinkin of like a medium short cut, bout 2 1/2 in. strands, since u said that u have glasses, I was thinkin like short side burns, which makes grasses look hot instead of nerdy!!! I wish i had a pic cuz its hard to explain wat i mean. anyway the cuts about 2 1/2 in. in the front and gradually gets longer in the back, going till about the nape of the neck. This style would look good on dark brown or balck hair (which i am guessin is ur natural color) but u will hafta go natural to match the side burns. let me know if u would want something like this!! Hey anz, actually the middle hairstyle looks relly good on u, I wouldn't change it to much. I would say that u could get blonde lowlights in your hair to soften ur face if u wanted!!!! They are really good and pretty cheep to, they last a long time 2. Hey Nightslasher and Del Piero. A straighting iron cost anywhere from $12-30, and can be bought at any wal-mart. To get really superstraight hair do this. (1) devide your absolutly dry hair into inch thick sections. (2)clip all your other hair out of the way (3) run the hot iron over the section slowly, see wat the result is and repeat till hair is perfectly straight (4)repeat until all sections are done (5) let out all clips letting the hair down (6) go over any spots that where missed or didn't take only straighten ur hair 1-2 times a month or else it is to damaging. And a good idea is to deep condition your hair after doing it.
