It isn't fair. My mum has gorgeous thick hair, which my sister got. My dad has nice blonde but thin hair. He grew it long when he was a teenager so it's thinning more now he's adult. I have very thin, greasy hair. Mum keeps on telling me I should have it cut so it'll grow thicker - but it looks so awful. It makes my face look fat. It doesn't feel so thin on the day it's clean, but when it's greasy it's just like.. strings. It's disgusting, but I don't want to wash my hair every day because you lose the natural vitimins in your hair and making my hair unhealthier won't help much.
- well, anyway. Please, I want advice of what to do. How to make my hair thicker, etc. Mum says that thickening shampoos don't work, she used to be a hairdresser. Should I listen?
Please reply. - does anyone else have the same problem?

rika~ there is a message board for thin hair, maybe you can get some ideas from there.
I think however, you could help the problem with your oily hair by using a shampoo for oily hair. Just use it on your scalp if your ends are dry but this should help a bit with your hair being greasy/oily just the second day after washing. And don't use conditioner directly on your scalp, just apply to ends. This should help with that limp look
Your mom is right that cutting your hair would make it LOOK thicker but won't necessarily make it grow thicker. But, there is nothing wrong with keeping your thin hair long, just be sure to get a good cut from a stylist that knows how to deal with thin hair. A cut can make a huge difference!
Is that your photo on your profile? If so, your hair is absolutely beautiful! Be sure to check out the board for thin hair, you should get some great ideas there.

Hehe, thanks. You've cheered me up a lot - but my hair doesn't look nice much. I'll take your advice and look at the forums, plus try that shampoo. Thankyou!

Thin hair does generally look thicker when short, because it isn't so weighed down. Generally speaking, a shorter, somewhat layered cut is best, but blunt-cut bobs work better for some people. Some shampoos for fine hair can help hair look thicker by temporarily plumping or coating the hair shaft, but they can't actually make the hairs permanently thicker, nor make more hairs grow in. It wouldn't hurt to try a few brands and see if you like them. But nothing you do will actually make your hair permanently thicker, as it's really all about genetics :-( . Really all you can do is learn the tricks to make it look as thick as possible, and try to live with what you have.
