In fact, many hairsprays and other products designed for sensitive folks happen to contain SD Alcohol 40. Not all alcohols are bad for hair nor cause dryness. Some are used as chemical solvents to dissolve some oily ingredients. Some happen to be moisturizing agents, such as glycerine and sorbitol.
