ok here goes, i used have long hair (im a guy) it was good looking ,well, the way i wanted it, im kinda going for the whole skater, grunge look, and this is what my hair looked like before i had it cut, it was fairly streight, smooth and sleekish and had seperation where the strands kinda clumped together a bit, i really want to keep this look but , theres one problem

to get that look i use wax on my hair when its damn, and it goes puffy for a day or 2 but then it looks amasing, how would i get the same look but without the 1-2 days of puffy, crappyness?

also the back is starting to curl up a bit and i dunno how to stop it.

i used gel on the front of my hair because i like the bangs to be outa my eyes and on the sides of my face , it kinda flicks up at the middle and then goes and the sides, how would i get this look without heavy gelling lol?

there ya go, hope u dont get put off by the length, thx alot guys!

Hi GUEST!

(1) My hair does the whole "puffy for a day or two but then looks amazing" thing too. My hair is mid-back, and the shampoo days make it poofy and frizzy. The following days are sleek and smooth though. Some people's hair just happens to be this way, and there's not much we can do. Certain conditioners may help, but it depends on your hair type. What works for me may not work for you.

I'll need more info:
- is your hair thin/thick
- is it fine/coarse
- what exact length?
- what shampoos/conditioners do you use
- what other hair productsk, hair treatments such as color
- do you have an undercut?
- how long have you been gelling?

(2) What do you mean by "curl up a bit"? This could have to do with the length of your hair. If you hair is just reaching shoulder length (you didn't say how long) then sometimes hair curls out like that.

(3) If you want your bangs out of your eyes without using massive amounts of gel, you'll either have to (a) cut them shorter (b) grow them longer so they work themselves into the rest of your hair. Actually, that also depends on the coarseness/fineness of your hair too. Please go through as many of my above questions as possible : ) and I'll try to help you out.

Don't worry about the length of your post either, I'm personally not intimidated by it.

Yo GUEST! I just thought of a solution for your bangs. It may get a little long-winded, so please post something to let me know you're alive. That way I don't go off on it unnecessarily. talk to you later.

well i am alive ^^, my hair is medium thickness i guess, i can pull it to my eyebrows now, coz i had it cut, it used to go to the bottom of my nose, i use garnier sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner, my hair isnt dyed, tho im going to soon, dont have an undercut. havent really been gelling for a while, onyl the front, the rest was waxed.

curl up a bit is, the very back of my hair it curls back and kinda points out, looks really stupid

and with the bangs, heres a pic of what i want to do with them, basically i want this look lol

kinda the look i wanted, couldnt find the same pic as i originally did

Hey GUEST,

Your hair in the back is probably curling a bit because it dries to the shape of your neck curve. Mine used to do that too when it was that length. If you want it to go in, ask for an undercut next time you get a trim. That way, the top layer will curl inwards or at least straighten out a bit.

As for the bangs, .... Okay.. lemme explain this in english. Each hair has a microscopic muscle at the base called an "erector pillus" (sp?) Apparently, you can "train" that muscle to point your hair in the right direction by wet combing. I part my hair when it's wet, and the part stays there forever (even after more showers). Try combing your hair into the right places when it's wet, and do this for a few weeks. Your roots will eventually "get the idea". I know this sounds a little nutso but it works for a lot of people.

Good luck

p.s. who's the drummer in the pic? I find him kinda hot.

wow, one of the foo fighters huh? he's pretty d*mn hot.

Each one of your hairs is covered with these microscopic shingle-like things. They go in one direction like on a roof (that's why backcombing is baaaaad), and shiny hair depends on how closed these scales are. Shampoos that promise "shiny hair" are often more acidic than other shampoos (although all shampoos are technically acidic). Conditioners that make your hair shine will often contain a plastic-like ingredient that coats your hair. So there are two things you could try: (1) cold water rinses or (2) a silicone conditioner

(1)
Acids like vinegar make your scales close up better. But if your shampoo and conditioner doesn't make your hair shiny enough.... cold water should do it.

When you do a vinegar rinse or rinse your hair with cold water, the scales close up and reflect more light in the same direction. I actually wash my hair with all cold water... getting into the shower bent over and pouring cold water over my hair to wash it--condition it--etc... before I actually turn on the hot water to shower (then I keep my hair away from the shower stream). Personally I think this could help a lot of people, but few are willing to rinse cold.. since, well... it's COLD!

(2)
Silicone conditioners are ones that have an ingredient ending in "cone". like amodimethicone or dimethiconol (an alcohol version of it). L'Oreal or Suave or Pantene are examples.
I will not make a conditioner recommendation yet because I don't know if you have fine/coarse hair (the individual diameter of the hair)

Why don't you give cold rinses a try and let us know how it works?

well washing in cold water did make it shine a bit more, but it still went puffy and crappy and , u know , all over, in the previus pics wot kinda products would i use to get that look? oh and also i got some pics of another cool hair style from a movie i was watching (sorry for the crappyness, hard to find pics) here they are

what i dont get in the pics is , how the bangs (this is what i was explaining earlyer) stay away from his face, but have movement also, and seem to slightly clump together, i sooo want this look, fed up of looking retarded with my hair lol

Hi GUEST

If he's on screen, he's probably got product in his hair. Personally I'm not an advocate for hair products... but leave-in conditioner is a good alternative if you want your hair to stick together only slightly but not get hard.

If your hair does the crappy mess thing for a day or two, that's normal for some people. In fact, that's normal for me. My hair doesn't get slick and shiny until about 8 hours after I get out of the shower.... That's a course day for me if I shower in the morning. Some people's hair just happens to be like this, and there's not much use worrying about it if it only lasts awhile. You could use leave in conditioner for that too, if it bugs you that much.

Do you blow dry? Some blow drying folks get less puffy mess because their hair dries all at once. (or closer to all at once)
Also, the wet combing idea I mentioned earlier.... it helped me with puffiness too.

let us know how things go

Hey GUEST!

He's a star and he has hair minions. You'd be hard pressed to get that look to last all day. It probably takes a variety of gel, but I can't recommend any specific brands off the top of my head. If there is such thing as a gel with bendable results, I think that would work best.
