Hi, I am growing my hair, it is a dark blonde colour with some faint blonde streaks through it. I want to get it to look like this (though obviously not black coloured):

Now, my hair is deffinately not that length yet, my fringe is nearly the same length, but the sides arent, and also my hair gets all puffy and big on top, wheras his is all flat and straight looking. How do I get mine like that? Also what hair produsts should I be using? I usually use some wet-look gel or a wax stick or something. My hair is very fine and thin and for some reason seems to puff up very easily on top.

looks like its been streightend, i think u should look at John frieda products, theres lots of hair syrums and stuff in there, if you like the oily look u could just not wash ur hair for about 3-4 days, would stop it being puffy or u could use some Jojoba oil on it, i havent tryed the oil yet (someone elce suggested it) sound good though, if all elce fails, just go into a salon and show them the pic, theyl tell you what u need to know.

well you definetly need lots of length for this style, especially in the back. i think with the aid of a pomade you can get this style. Wax work great also. Try to grow your hair longer, and use moisturizing hair products. If you hair is still poofy, you might have to have it straigten with a flat iron or a blow dryer, or get your hair relaxed. This is a defineltly a cool look. The easiest way to do this is to grow your hair really long they go to a stylist, bring this picture, and they will style it accordingly, and perhaps give you tips on how to maintain it.

Thanks guys :) :) I'm assuming you can get John Frieda products somewhere like Boots so I'll have a look there. My friend went to hairdresser recently and asked for the same style, and they said that when the hair grows it will weigh it down on top and make it flatter or something. Is this hairstyle high maintenance? Not that I wouldn't put in the effort ;) Also does it suit blonde hair?

That's a sexy hairstyle, and it would suit any color. It shouldn't be high maintenance if your hair is naturally straight. If you have any wave in your hair you'd have to straighten it to get it to look just like that, and that would take more time.
It will flatten out as it gets longer, but if it doesn't flatten enough, you can put the jojoba oil or coconut oil. Just a drop in the palm of your hand, rub it on your fingers, then rub it on your hair. It will weigh it down and absorb a little into your hair. If it looks greasy, you used too much. You can also try only using it on the last couple of inches of your hair strands, to help get the pointed look on the ends (a salon will have to cut it pointy first of course).

Not sure if my hair is naturally straight, well as I said it does get all puffy. I got some straightening iron thing, the ones I've seen girls use, but at the time my hair wasnt really long enough to use it very well. Is that what you mean about straightening the hair? Or does it have to be done at hairdressers? I will be sure to give the oil a try.
Thanks for the help again guys

Yeah, that's what I meant. If your hair has any wave or curl in it, then you would call it wavy or curly, and you may have to straighten it, either at the salon or at home with a straightening iron like you said you used to get exactly the look in those pictures. It will be more easy to use with the longer hair.

What do you think of dying my hair black? Its something I have thought of but I can imagine the dye growing out and having blonde roots and then black tips. I have dark blonde eyebrows so it would probbaly look weird.
I think my hair may be long enough to have a go with irons now, it just about goes past my eyebrows.

I've been trying to go for basically the exact same look at the original poster (as in the myfly pics) but i find that every time i go, they say "the last person didn't cut it right for that kind of a shag look" and then they take off too much length and i have to start over. can ANYONE recommend how I should go about getting cuts as I work out to this style?
I've tried asking them jsut to thin it out so i lose some poof, but not to touch the length... is that what I should be asking for?

Hey what colour is your hair? My hair is currently in a poofy stage, or "boofy" as me and my friend call it lol. All they ever say to me is that I need to wait for it to grow. Someone did say to me to get some thinning scissors and cut a bit yourself when it gets too big on top..but you better ask others here about that first.
