Currently I spike my hair and it has blond highlights in it and I use hair glue to get my hair the way it is now and it is always extremly hard by the time it dries. Then after it's sticking up, if it doesn't stay well enough you can also add hairspray. Spray from about a foot away, not too much at once, and don't touch it until it's dry or it will look wet.
