Heres a style i do this to my hair all the time. this is the kind of hair style that is soooooooooo easy to do, and it doesn't matter if u have curly hair or straight hair it still works. You can also do it on wet or dry hair, tho I will give u directions with wet or damp hair.
(1) Take ur damp hair and use a "controling" gel (u can try salon selectives straighting gel, or garnier works well too) to work over all the parts of ur hair, and then comb it through.
(2) Take out a two even sections of hair for bangs, ( u can get creative in this part, for more of a bad girl look u can zig zag the top of ur hair and leave the end part of the zig zag out on one side, or anything else u want).
(3) Once u have the bags out take the rest of your hair back as if u where going to put in a pony tail (If u want ur part to show pull it back and leave that oart on top) or brush the top of your hair back.
(4) The height of the hair is the tricky part, depending on ur hair length, if u have only medium hair pull it as high as u can so that you have enough left sticking out in the back, if u have longer hair, go lower on ur scalp so that u dont have as much sticking up.
(5) ok now that u got that all straightened out, pull the hair to the back of ur head, tight and free of any lumps or anything in the hair, then set to w/e length u want it (in the begining u might want to use a thin elastic to hold it in place) twist the hair around and up, for shorter hair twist once, for longer, two or three times, then fan out the top and use pins or clips, whichever u prefur to secure it at the top.
(6) now either curl, or spike the top remaining hair with the same hair gel used ealier, u can spray with hairspray to hold, but u dont have to.
Suggestions-
For the style I said earlier, the bad girl zig zag, if u have curly or wavy hair, straighen the thick bang left out and spike the back tips up.
For a girlier style, leave thin sections in the front of the hair, and a few small sections hear and there, before securing take two or four small sectiond of hair and twist them to the back securing with the rest of the hair. The with the remaining hair ether leave curly if u have naturaly curly hair or take a 1/4 in. curling iron and curl the back, then take it and curl the sections of bangs and other sections pulled out of the hair (the extra sections also soften the look).
I did this style to one of my friends hair for prom and then i used silver glitter hairspray to finish, she loved it and got compliments all night!!!!
