Hello to everyone!I'm having a little disappointment with Aveda right now. Recently, I've bought for over 150$ of shampoos and conditionners (I now have Black Malva, Shampure, Hair Detoxifier, Cherry/Almond Bark and Currescence. The conditionners are increadible, but my hair never feels squeeky clean as it did when I used to buy shampoos from the drugstore. The shampoo I like best right now is the Hair Detox, but even that one doesn't leave my hair clean enough. What should I do? I wash my hair every other day (I've been doing this since I can remember). Should I wash it every day? Or is there a special shampoo from Aveda designed for 'greasy hair'? I really like Aveda since it smells so good and my hair looks a lot less damaged than it did before, but I don't like walking arround with almost dirty looking hair...

Dear Itzel,I am sorry that you are having some problems with Aveda. I understand. Sometimes I have to change my routine with the product to get a better result. I would recommend that you experiment with a variety of the different Aveda shampoos to see if you notice a change in the way that your hair feels. Also, you may want to experiment with how often you wash your hair. And lastly, experiement with the conditioners and other products. My routine is as follows: I alternate Shampure, Blue Malva and Chamomille every 3rd day. I do wash my hair every day except about 2x a month I will give my hair one day of rest. I also alternate Cherry Almond Bark with the Deep Conditioner and I alternate that with Curressence and Curressence Spray. I also alternate Confixer and Elixer.I only use the Detox shampoon about 1x a month because I find it too harsh.Also...I only use the conditioners on the bottom section of my hair and never on the roots or near the top because this will make my hair feel greasy or loaded down.I might also suggest that you shampoo 2x instead of 1 and that you might try mixing the shampoos. Do 1 shampoo with Blue Malva and then follow with a Shampure.Another thing that will give you the squeaky clean feeling Itzel is to do a final rinse with cold water. I know that sounds difficult in the shower...but what I do is I slowly reduce the hot water so that my head and hair gets used to the cooler water and then I turn the water as cool as possible and let it rinse through my entire hair and scalp. This definitely makes a BIG difference for me.I have been experiementing with a lot of the high priced competitive products with Aveda like Phyto and Kiehl and I can honestly say that I still like Aveda the best. However, I have had periods where I have had to alter my Aveda use in some way. It is possible that you may want to take a mini break from Aveda and switch to some other shampoo and/or conditioner in the interim. I personally have used the Bain de Terre product line for a "hair rest".The other question you may need to think about is whether you have been using any silicon hair care products other than Aveda that may have coated your hair. I would think that the Detox would do the trick to remove a lot of coatings, but you never know.If I can answer any other questions please let me know how I can help.Best wishes ItzelKaren Shelton TLHV

Hi Itzel....I thought of some other things I wanted to tell you about your original questions about your hair concerns. I have been testing the Phytotherathrie brand of hair products. They have several different shampoos and conditioners and I really liked the result. However, what I found was best was using the products as an alternative to the Aveda. I am still using Aveda as my main product but am using the Phyto shampoo about 1x a week. It seems to work very well.I still really love Aveda but I know that sometimes you have to try a variety of things on your hair. Please let me know how you are doing with the various hair suggestions. I would love to know what works for you.Regards,Karen

Itzel,I have tried all the Aveda products and I find that I also don't get that clean squeeky feeling with Black Malva, however I use Blue Malva every day and I do get the clean squeeky feeling.Everybodies hair is different and you just have to find what works for you.Jeff Webmaster The Hair Boutique
