I am confused. I thought you weren't supposed to tip the owner of the hair salon? I was at my regular stylist (who owns the shop) and he was complaining about the fact that so many of his clients never tip him. I didn't say anything but added a 10% tip to my check.Was that enough? Should I have left more? I feel embarrassed that I didn't know this. I like the work my stylist does so tipping is OK with me.Did I do the right thing?Sarah

Should I tip the stylist (who is the owner) or not... and if not should I tip the shampoo girl (who is NOT the owner) if she works on my hair? I think traditionally you're not suposed to tip the owner, but maybe that rule has been changed now... and I have no idea about the shampoo girl, my current salon is the first one I've been to that has one.I haven't been tipping and now I think maybe I've been screwing up...-jennfier
