I would like some info on barretts. I have used metal barretts for years..the ones you buy in Walmart, Sally's or even expensive ones-whatever suits my fancy. I love to pull the sides to the back of my head with a barrett, this is my usual hairdo, then usually braid the remainder or use one of those scruncie's to hold it back. Anyway.. I would like to know where you can find a barrett that is not metal? I don't believe I have ever seen them before, maybe I am looking in all the wrong places. I do get more breakage where I use the barretts and want to do whatever I can to protect my hair. I do have heavy hair so I can't imagine anything but metal being able to hold it in place. So, my question is..what does everyone do for barretts? Would love some feedback.. thanks.. Cher~

Here in the UK I have never seen one that was not metal, I think that it would be too hard to create a powerful enough spring. My wife used to use one of those leather/wood barrettes (note UK spelling) and this seemed to work ok.
