I have been straightening my curly hair for YEARS and I am finally sick of being a slave to my blow dryer and straightening iron. I have decided to let my hair go curly but I am having trouble finding a style and cut. I am currently stuck with a ponytail or pulling it back on the top Which is fine, but I would like to be able to have a cut that would enable me to just let my hair down. . I live in a small town and do not trust the salons here. Are there any books or instruction manuals that I could bring to a salon with me to help the stylist cut my hair??PS: I have been using ouidad products for about 2 months now and have really noticed a big change in the condition of my hair!Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi Andrea,I am glad to hear you are liking Ouidad. She actually has a technique that she developed for cutting/trimming curly hair that keeps the hair sleek and more manageable. She actually does this cutting/molding thing with a scissors that separates the curls so they lay flatter and sleeker.You might try emailing her to see if anyone where you live has studied her technique.Another recommendation is to check out the book 388 Great Hairstyles which is the book on the home page. This book has several curly styles for short, medium and long hair. I think you could take several photos to your small town salon with you from this book.I wish I could post some of the photos..they are so great...but I hate to violate any copyright....so I am limited to what I can describe here on the board.One style that they recommend for curly hair (on page 33) is to have the upper crown and bangs slightly layered with the rest of the hair either very long in one length or layered to space out the curls. This recommend cut on page 33 has 5 different looks for very curly hair from loose long curls to a piled high twist.Good luck.
