This may be the most pointless message ever posted on this board - but I hope it may amuse.It is an accepted fact that human hair grows at approx 15cm per year. However we never express hair length in cm (except in competition), we don't say 'Alice has 75cm hair' but Alice has waist length/hip length/hair she can sit on/etc. It therefore follows that a more appropriate measurement of hair growth is actually L=H-B: where L is apparant hair length, H is hair growth rate in cm per annum and B is body growth rate in cm per annum. This throws up some interesting concepts.1 While long hair is most often associated with younger girls, the most effective time to grow your hair is actually after your late teens when factor B has dropped to as near to zero as makes no difference.2 It is a well-known 'fact' among style gurus that short women are least suitable for long hair. But as the shorter you are the lower factor B must equal it is in fact easier for them to grow it.3 As the body sometimes shrinks as you get older - the older you are the easier it is to grow your hair ('up-yours' to the no long hair on older women crowd).4 In theory it is possible for a young woman's hair to appear to stop growing as factor B increases during growth spurts - in fact it might even be possible to have B exceed H and therefore her hair will actually seem to get shorter. Anybody ever actually seen this phenomenon?
