I read that the Clairol Daily Defense has Vitamine E, UV filters and ProVitamin B5. Is this true? So it this a good product or not?I would like to use the better products like Aveda, KMS and Artec but am on a limited budget. So I am looking for alternatives. Any ideas?Jess

Hi Jess,My main problem with Daily Defense is that it is designed to be sold in grocery stores rather than salons. The products sold in grocery stores and drugstores often have a high concentration of detergents and other damaging ingredients. So I am always concerned about recommending them. I also will not use them on my own hair since I am concerned about damaging it.I will tell you what I know about Clairol Daily Defense which has been out for about 8 months. The Daily Defense products contain an "advanced nutrient complex of proteins," including Vitamin E, protective conditioners, UV filters, and ProVitamin B5, which penetrates deep inside the hair shaft to protect from the root outward. The product was designed to block build-up of any kind (from either product overuse or airborne particles) that can dry out hair and create nasty split ends. The four different shampoos each have a special ingredient that grabs onto the hard water minerals and metal salt deposits that roughen hair, while the four conditioners enrich hair with Vitamin E and plant-derived ingredients, sealing the hair to keep it strong and healthy.Clairol Daily Defense has 4 different shampoos and conditioners and each is designed for a different hair type.Defense 1 is for fine hair, Defense 2 is for normal hair, Defense 3 is for chemically-treated hair and Defense 4 is for dry/damaged hair. The product sells for about $4.00.I know that you are concerned about costs, but did you know that if you buy the Aveda Shampure on the Internet from WW Beauty Store it is only a little more expensive (approximately $5.50 a bottle). I definitely think buying the higher quality products is worth it.My hair is so important to me that I don't want to use anything that I don't consider to be the best.Nature's Gate, which Cher recommends is also very reasonably priced and you can buy it at the health food store.Hope this helps.Best wishes,Karen> I read that the Clairol Daily Defense has> Vitamine E, UV filters and ProVitamin B5.
