Hi,

Straight hair can definitely be a challenge to curl. However, you might try wearing your hair "up in a ponytail" that you dress up with a strand of your hair wrapped around it OR a glittery ponytail holder and then you can set your hair on hot rollers all around the base of the ponytail. Let the hot rollers stay in until your hair has completely cooled and then remove the hot curlers. As you remove each curler, carefully pin the curl to your scalp around the base of the ponytail. Once you have removed all the curlers and pinned all the curls, spray the entire head with a firm holding hairspray.

Get dressed, do your makeup and apply your hair and other jewelry and accessories.

Right before it is time to leave, remove the bobby pins and use your fingers to carefully arrange the curls so that they cascade down from the ponytail. You can also take one of the strands and wrap it around the ponytail elastic if you don't want to use a glittery accessory.

Do not use a comb or brush but gently arrange the curls with your fingers. Spray again really well and then off to the Prom.

If you notice your curls dropping during the evening you can curl them around your fingers and then pin the curls to your scalp to hold them in place.

Another option is to "cheat" and pin some add-on hair extensions that are curled around the ponytail so that if all your curls fall out, you still have the faux curls that would accent the ponytail.

And of course you can always just leave the curls pinned to your scalp for an updo.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,
Karen
