I saw a program on new trends on television. This hot shot hairdresser said that teasing just the roots of the hair is in because it pumps of the volume of hair but doesn't look like the old bouffants. Furthermore, he said that teasing just the roots does not damage the hair or form knots, so that it is basically safe even for long hair. Is any of this true?

How can you tease the roots of hair and not cause tangles?
