My trying-to-grow-long hair appears to break a lot - I don't mean dropping off in bunches, but that it seems to grow in short strands instead of a continuous longer one as the length increases. I think it is called hair breakage, as opposed to split ends where the hair shaft splits into two right at the end and travels up. I don't seem to have split ends but I have no idea why mine grows in short strands and appears thinner at the ends.I don't think I am brushing real hard or am treating it wrongly with harsh shampoos. It could be due to the genes as the new hair on the top of my head appears to grow in short strands too. You can imagine how discouraging it is to have hair breakages when my ideal is long, even length hair!
