Hi Everyone!Just had to tell you all about this. About 15 years ago, a friend bought a barber shop where she had been working. Since that time, though she still caters to men, it has become kind of unisex. My mom wanted a haircut and since she likes it VERY short, I took her there. It wasn't very busy so we didn't have long to wait. When they took my mom into the cutting area, they invited me in to watch (#1 surprise). While the girl was cutting, she kept asking me if the length was good, and only took off a little at a time (#2 surprise). When they invited me to sit in one of the empty chairs to watch, I joked with them that it had been many years since I had sat in one of "those" chairs. They assured me that it was only to make me comfortable and that they wouldn't cut my hair. They never even tried to talk me into a trim (#3 surprise). Then while I was there a lady with waist length hair came in and asked for a trim. Major warning bells went off in my head when she didn't specify how much of a trim. She was seated next to my mom so I was able to observe the stylist as he trimmed her hair. He only removed about a quarter of an inch with the first cut, then asked her if that was what she wanted (#4 surprise). I was so pleased to see that he was very careful with her hair, so when she left I commented on it. We got into a lengthy discussion about trimming and he explained that since he has long hair himself (to his mid back) he appreciates how much time and effort it takes to grow it and how mad it makes him to see and hear about stylists that don't take that into consideration. Well needless to say, I think I have finally found a professional stylist that I can trust to trim my hair. Now I just need to contact my friend to tell her to never let him leave.Take care,Noreen
