Yes, this is true to some extent. Although you hair will only grow as fast as it is genetically programmed. All that you can do is to maximize your growth potential by eating right and taking vitamins and not doing damaging things. For example, if you hair is genetically programmed to grow at the rate of 1 inch per month, it may or may not attain that growth rate depending on how you take care of your body. If you smoke, drink lots of caffeine, eat a diet with "bad hair foods" your hair may only grow 1/2 inch a month rather than the optimal 1 inch. It actually may not grow at all. However, it you eat well and include protein rich foods, you hair can then attain its maximum growth potential which is different for every person. This is sort of like how atheletics train to reach their optimal physical performance. So in a sense, protein will help you attain maximum growth potential. It won't work miracles though. It will just help.Hair that is deprived of good protein sources will tend to thin out and may even start to break. People that fast and rob their bodies of protein often have some varying degree of hair loss. That is why people with anorexia often suffer from hair loss as well.Too much protein will have the opposite effect. There are actually protein based vitamin drinks that you can buy at the health food store specifically designed for hair. I have tried them and did not notice a substantial difference. The thing that works best for me is Kelp and seaweed.Let me know if you try the protein drinks and if you notice any significant change in your growth rate.Best wishes,Karen> My stylist told me that any extra protien you eat will> grow your hair faster because that is what your hair> is made out of. Does anyone know if this is true.> Thanks.Related Link:Hair Boutique Gallery
