I don't know about you but I am tired of hopping from stylist-to-stylist, shampoo-to-shampoo, and protein pack-to- protein pack. Are there any TRUE black haircare experts out there? What is so difficult about growing thick, beautiful, healthy hair? Maybe black women should stop looking to stylist to manage their manes. Should we seek the guidance of chemists, dermatologists, or what? Does anyone out there know how I can learn the truth about my black hair? I want to know what relaxers really do to my hair and what my hair needs to become healthy. Can anybody help me?

Can anybody help me?I bought some books on black hair care, and they have given me a lot of information. These selections should give you the info you are looking for:1. The Journey from Kinky to Straight by Lisa Akbari 2. Ultra Black Hair Growth (Another 6" longer 1 year from now) by Cathy Howse3. Andre Talks Hair by Andre Walker4. No Lye by Tulani Kinard.5. Where Beauty Touches Me by Pamela FerrellYou can find these books at your local bookstore. If they don't have them you can have the bookstore order them.I have had my hair cut very short (afro) for 3 years now. I decided to grow my hair long to see how long it would get. Last year, my hair was about 1.5 inches long, now it's 6 inches long and I have had very little problems with my hair. I too had problem with stylists messing up my hair. I finally gave up on them and went natural. My hair is healthier now. I wear them in twists and everone likes them.
