Karen & I have long considered the possibilty of creating a separate talk board for the discussion of the social aspects of hair (i.e long hair vs. short hair, long hair on men, short hair on women, buzz cuts, etc.) and in light of the recents discussions in Hair Talk we are thinking that it might be time to create such a Talk board. Karen & I would like to keep the focus of the Original Hair Talk on Hair Care topics, thus creating a new talk board will give our visitors an outlet for those non hair care related discussions that have recently popped up in Hair Talk.We are always trying to bring to our visitors the features that they need to get the most out of this site.First Question: What do you (our visitors) think of this idea?Second Question: What would be the general guidelines for this board (i.e. subject matter, code of conduct, etc.)?Third Question: How do we avoid flame wars?Fourth Question: What would be a good name for this board? Please let us know how you feel about this proposal and any answers to the above questions.Jeff & Karen

Some people have a very hard time dealing with change even if it is on someone else's hair. I respect the strong feelings of someone who has experienced the ups and downs of having and caring for long hair over the years and is thoughtful enough to want to share their passion for such with the rest of us. I too, have a great passion for long beautiful hair, but I also must let my clients ultimately make that final decision as to how THEY want their hair! I can only advise and educate them honestly and let them make up their own mind without undo pressure from me or anyone else. When a client is 'educated' they will make the right decision 90% of the time when they are thinking with a clear head. So many stylists/friends try to 'sway' a persons thoughts that it becomes sometimes an act of desperation and relief for them to make a hasty decision, which they may pay for for a long time in unhappiness everytime they look in the mirror. I believe that a seperate board for discussion of the 'alternate subjects would be good, but please do not lose sight of the real purist who is sincere in his or her quest for "hair knowledge and help" for the sake of popularity! The infighting of certain individuals is both spirited because of true belief in a cause(the furtherance of long hair), and in the rights of others to express their voices. This is America, where we have the freedom to express ourselves, but we must not infringe upon the rights of others. Diane was very vocal in expressing her beliefs and should be commended for"speaking up and letting her voice be heard". Whatever her decision is, then let her make that and stand by it...Look to the future with a firm conviction of your purpose and look back and become wiser but, yesterday is history and meet each day for the challenge that it is and overcome the obstacles with positive thinking and positive actions! william
