I have waist length, thick, wavy, never treated, chocolatey brown hair. For years people have been telling me, "Sell your hair, you'll get hundreds! There's so much of it, it's so healthy, amazing!" So, Now I'm ready to sell, and I can't seem to find any buyers. My cousin has alopecia and she bought a human hair wig, chin length pageboy and paid $1700! I want to help out those who are in need of hair, because I clearly have an overabundance.Does anybody have any ideas or know of someone I should talk to? I live in Sacramento CA, but commute to San Francisco often and something in San Diego could even work out! Any information would be greatly appreciated. After so much time on the phone, and the net, it was a relief to find this site. I hope it turns out useful! Thanks! /

Kristen,I am sorry to hear of your cousin's condition. It's my understanding that there are at least twodistinctly different motivations for hair purchases; onebeing to make wigs, and the other is, shall we say, farless noble. If you decide to sell, you may want to checkcredentials.> I have waist length, thick, wavy, never treated,> chocolatey brown hair.Your hair sounds gorgeous.> ... I clearly have an overabundance. It sounds like you have been convinced to modify your ownperception of "how much is 'the right amount' for you."Another way to look at it is that you have been abundantlyblessed.> For years people have been telling me, "Sell your hair,> you'll get hundreds! There's so much of it, it's so> healthy, amazing!" So, Now I'm ready to sell...About two years ago, when I was a student, I heard the exactsame things from several people at the school. I was told Icould get mid-to-high 3 figures for it.My reaction? I was slightly amused. I don't consider myselfa "hair farm," no matter how much sympathy I have for thosemisfortunate ones suffering from alopecia. If we feel so compelled, perhaps those of us who have beenso blessed can "help" by sharing of our time (and still-attached-to-our-heads hair) with them, and showing themthat they are people who deserve to be loved as fellow humanbeings. They have lost their hair *not of their choice*I can imagine that they perceive those of us who have achoice as being very fortunate. I can also imagine thatthey might begin to wonder why some of do some of the"crazy" things (chop/bleach/perm/etc) that we do to ourhair.Whatever you choose to do, I wish you well.Dave
