A couple weeks ago I bout my very first Aveda product. I have very dry, damaged, wavy hair and I needed a shampoo that would cleanse my hair well but also not leave it a twisted mass of tangles. After much research I decided to try Aveda's Pure-Fume Brilliant Shampoo. I went to a local salon and picked up a bottle for $10. When I got home I eagerly popped the top to sneak a sniff as the scent is supposed to be very nice. I took a big whiff and boy this stuff smells great. It's remnicent of Lavender and quite soothing. Then I just had to try it out. I slipped into a warm bath. First I lay back and rinsed the gel and pomade from my hair. Then I worked a dime sized dollop of the shampoo between my hands and into my hair, massaging my scalp. Now the first big thing I noticed was there were not broken hairs on my hands.. ususally when I shampoo I get lots of breakage because my hair is so dry. This time there were none. Yay good sign right. Next I sat for a minute and enjoyed the scent. When I rinsed it out it took no time at all and left no buildup. I looked in the mirror and saw the shiniest hair of my life. Plus it felst softer already. After towel drying and an application of Aveda Elixer I was good to go. I love this product and highly recomend it.ThanksKeth'ryn

Hi All,First some background:Over this last year I have been increasingly distressed over the amount of breakage I have been experiencing. I would say that the bottom of my braid has been thinned by half due to breakage - very upsetting. It's my belief that Calgary's wacky weather has been stressing my hair and the conditioners I was using were unable to cope with it.I currently use Aveda products. Unlike Karen (our fearless product tester), I am reluctant to change product lines (just call me chicken) but I am willing to experiment within a product line. Over the course of this year I ran the full gambit of conditioners and combinations thereof. To my surprise I found that my hair responded best to the colour conditioners. However this is not a truely satisfactory solution because I use the clove colour conditioner. No matter how careful I am I get new stain in my bathroom everytime I used it.So I was still unhappy and actually prepared to try another product line. Two weeks ago I read Karen's review of ARTec. It sounded so good that I ordered some in (no one was carrying it yet). While I was waiting for it to come in I finally read Keth'ryn's message on Aveda's Pure-Fume Brilliant Shampoo and Conditioner. This stuff I could get and try right away. I got some last night and gave it a try.The results:WOW!I didn't pay attention to the smell so I can not comment on it but I did pay attention to the feel. As soon as I put the shampoo on my hair I felt it smooth out. I could slide my fingers through my wet hair right to and through the ends easily as the water/shampoo went through it. I couldn't do that before. It even felt good on my scalp. Moist. My hair's reaction to the shampoo was so dramatic that the conditioner was an anticlimax.I was concerned that this stuff would make my hair limp but it didn't. My hair was easy to pick out too - hardly a catch or a inexplicable snarl except just at the ends. I would prefer not to have any "catches" or "snarls" at all but my hair is responding better than it has for a long time so I can't complain ... much.It was easly too this moring to brush out. I did the ultimate test. I wore my hair loose to bed. In case you didn't know, loose hair makes the best cat nest (and when you have two cats it invites a midnight fight). The incoming Chinook prevented a fight last night - the cats wanted to go outside instead.I will still try the ARTec product. I just got it. I'll let you know which product wins :)Tamara in Calgary, Canada> Hi,> Great review. Thank you very much. I have not tried> the Pure-Fume Billiant yet. I want to but have not> made it yet.
